Julia slammed the book shut for the 13th time since she started reading the chapter and squealed to herself . "Oh My GOD" she huffed. The male lead did what!? To whom!? Why?! Since when?! She giggles again. How could such a sweet looking title be like this? A lady's love is what it was called. It was a steamy office romance novel if she'd ever read one. And trust me, she had.

The male lead, Markus, had a secretary named Sarah. And everyday Sarah and Markus's sexual tension would grow more uncontrollably by the day that eventually they couldn't take it anymore and- "Kyaa" Julia squeals again rereading the same scene. He was so rough with her. Oh my gosh, how she'd love being railed that rough. She laughed at the pathetic thought. Like hell that would ever happen. Maybe in her dreams but no man would ever touch her in real life. She wasn't ugly but she was definitely not someone's first pick. Maybe 5th or 6th but never first. Huh, by that logic wouldn't that mean she was ugly?

She studied herself in her vanity mirror. Her hair was always done up in the same way- hair slicked back into a tight ponytail- nothing too ostentatious. She rarely ever applied makeup to her face if she was going out but she would wear it around the house cause she lacked the confidence to prance around the city with it.

She hears a chime of a few piano keys and picks up her phone. " What do you need?" Julia took on her work tone.

"Hey Jewel! Guess what I did. I set you up for a date. Aren't I the best!" Julia's supervisor , Amy, screamed. She always did this kind of thing. Making decisions when Julia never asked her to. And interfering with her personal life. Did she think Julia was lonely or something? She was doing perfectly well by herself. She got herself a nice apartment with a gorgeous overview of the city. She could see the company she worked for from here. The tall skyscraper was laced with glass windows from top to bottom and it glistened in the setting sun. She would have thought the building was beautiful if she had not let her mind drift to the long hours she worked just to get where she was today. But she treated that fact as proof that she didn't need a partner's support and that thought would have made her smile if not for her indifference. She didn't need it but it wouldn't hurt to have it. Right?

She switched her attention back to Amy, who was rambling on and on about this date she wasn't going on. She felt her irritation rise. " Excuse me Amy, but I'm a grown independent woman and the last thing I need is some scrub leaching onto me. Who the hell do you think you are making decisions for me? I know you and your husband are bordering on a divorce so worry about yourself before you try to playing cupid.'' Is what Julia would have said. Who was she kidding? She'd never say something like. She was too much of a coward to tell someone off like that. What if they hated her afterwards? Or spread nasty rumors about her? She couldn't risk it. "....Okay then I guess I'll go get ready." Julia mumbled reluctantly. "Great. I sent him your contact info so he should text you any second. Tell me how it goes, bye." As soon as the phone hung up a text message from that guy appeared.

"Hey, it's Dominic. I'm gonna assume Amy already told you but i'm looking forward to see you a 8:00"

Julia smiled at the text message. What if this was a good thing? What if this was what she needed? Maybe he was what she needed.

"Yeah i'll see you then"

Maybe she should look forward to it.

She tapped her finger against the table and her heels made a constant clicking noise as she bounded her leg up and down. God she hoped her makeup- you know the one she wasn't that confident in wearing outside- wasn't ruined from all the sweating she was doing. She took a leap of faith with that decision but... Where is he? Is he late? Well of course he's late cause he's not here and she'd been waiting for two hours. If she ordered another water she didn't think she'd have enough space in her stomach for actual food- if she'd ever get around to ordering anything. She was gonna text him but what if she came off too impatient and he didn't like her for it. Another ten minutes passed by slowly and contemplated what to do. Call him? Text him? Leave? Stay? She didn't know. She let out a shaking sigh as she found his contact info in her phone.
