Todoroki reflexively slammed his palms over his ears as the top floor of the building exploded with the force of several kilograms of dynamite, sending chunks of concrete and rebar soaring through the air and filling the battle arena with a thunder-like roar. The sound alone was enough to jolt Shoji awake as he scrambled to regain his bearings. H, however, didn't even flinch as the thunderclap of the explosion echoed across the arena, even being felt all around the school.
In the viewing room, some students had either instinctively thrown themselves to the floor or stood in utter shock, none of them having predicted what H had done. All Might himself was too astounded to say anything at first.
"...both teams, please return to the observation room."
As Shoji's injured form was wheeled to Recovery Girl's office, Todoroki kept subconsciously glancing at the white-haired girl walking next to him as they headed back to the observation room. Yaoyorozu joined them, looking a little sheepish, but said nothing.
Todoroki wasn't sure what to think. Clearly, H had decided to take matters into her own hands... but why?
When the three students entered the observation room, H felt the stares of seventeen others in her direction, causing her to momentarily hesitate.
"Ah, you've returned!" All Might's resonating voice clashed heavily with the tension in the room. "Now, young H, care explaining what happened in your battle trial?"
H didn't speak, her gaze flicking nervously between the students and All Might. Fortunately, Tokoyami understood and stepped forwards. H nodded towards him thankfully and began to sign with Tokoyami translating. Her movements started hesitant, gradually growing more confident.
"The exercise was unrealistic. A timer denoted the detonation of the bomb in the case of a failure by the heroes, but in that case, the villains would have been long gone. If said villains did not seek to survive the blast, they would have no use for a timer. There may be cases where villains are defending a bomb, such as the transportation of the weapon, but in such a case there would be no time constraint. Regardless, in any situation regarding pre-existing intelligence of a nuclear weapon, heroes should avoid engagement and instead wait for a team that actually knows what they're doing, such as a counterterrorism force or bomb squad."
"Thus, I did what a villain in this scenario would have realistically done: blow up the bomb."
Pin-drop silence filled the room when H finished explaining her thought process. A little sheepishly, she looked down at her feet as the entire class stared at her, bewildered by not only her actions but also rationale. However, she was saved by All Might.
"Hmm... I see! You decided to treat the situation as a real one and so bent the rules to simulate the realistic outcome! While it is necessary for us to know what would actually happen, do keep in mind that this exercise is meant for combat training!"
H bowed her head in acknowledgement, prompting All Might to continue. "Alright! We'll move on to the next match!"
"Yes, sir!"
As the other students returned their attention to the battlefield, Tokoyami approached the white-haired girl. He stuck a hand out from underneath his cloak. "Tokoyami Fumikage. Your name is H, right?"
