"Thank you for dinner Ms. Daniels, it was delicious." She praised as she helped clear the table. Ms. Daniels smiled and shook her head.

"Of course Oakley, I'm sorry your parents couldn't be here for your birthday tomorrow. Don't you guys stay up too late!" Jasmine's Mom said as she headed to bed. They had shared a big dinner, only missing Sam who Jasmine waved off saying she was out with a friend.

A hand snaked around her waist and slipped under her boxers. She thanked god that the sink was full of water or she would've broken all of the dishes from the shock. "Ja-Jas what are you doing?" She asked, gripping the counter tops.

Jasmine pumped her slowly, "Just getting ready for your birthday gift baby." Jasmine continued to slowly work her. She felt her wolf stirring and couldn't place if this was good or bad. Jasmine spun her around and got down on her knees. Oakley's ears perked as she heard a car pull up and shut off.

She quickly helped Jasmine up who huffed in irrigation, "Why do you keep stoping me?"

The front door opened and Sam tried to sneak in, past the couple who was already looking towards her. Sam froze, eyes bouncing from Jasmine's irritated look to Oakley's disheveled look. "You missed dinner." She said.

Sam shuffled on her feet, she seemed ready to make a break for the stairs. "Sorry I caught a ride home from work from a friend."

Jasmine snorted, smoothing out her outfit. "You're calling Joel a friend? That boy is in love with you and has been since freshman year."

Oakley felt her temper flare again, she rubbed her chest, causing Sam's eyes to follow the motion. They all stood in a tense silence until Jasmine decided to break it.

"I'm gonna put on a movie, SamBam go change and join us. Babe can you pop some popcorn?" Jasmine said, walking off to the family room. Oakleys eyes raked over Sammy's outfit. She had changed since school, she wore a polo and a tennis skirt to match. Sam worked at a country club about 20 minutes out of town.

"Who gave you a ride home?" She asked Sam who was still backing away to the stairs.

"Joel." How could one name make her want to put her hand through the wall?

She simply nodded and went to the cupboard to make popcorn.

By the time everything and everyone were ready for the movie Jasmine had already snuggled into the right seat of the couch. She took her spot in the middle to act as Jasmine's body pillow. The lights flicked off and Sam slid into the spot on the left of the couch.

The movie droned on but she had long stopped paying attention. Her wolf was clawing to come out and she could barely sit still. Jasmine had fallen asleep on her and she couldn't stand without waking her up.  She felt her eyes flickering and she clenched her fists, willing herself to calm down.

A soft hand touched her arm, sending a flame through her. " Oak? You okay? You're burning up." They made eye contact and Sam gasped, seeing her wolfs golden eyes staring back at her. "Oakley? Your eyes are glowing.." She whispered.

She went to speak but felt her k-9's extending. She was practically buzzing, it must be close to her birthday. "Bed." She grunted, heading to the guest room. Even though she was allowed to stay, they weren't allowed to share the bed.

When she got to the room she locked the door, heading to the bathroom and turning on the cold water. As she doused herself with ice cold water, she heard Jasmine attempting to come in. She heard her fiddle with the door, sigh, and walk away in frustration. She let out a breath of relief knowing she wouldn't have to explain her current half transformed state to her. When she finally cooled off and headed straight to bed. She knew tomorrow was going to bed a big day.

---

She sprang up. Her wolf howling, they could both smell their mate in the house. She moved without thinking. Following the scent as she happily stopped outside of a door. Her heart dropped as she realized where she was. She stood frozen, not sure what to do. It certainly explained why she hated Joel or any guy that talked to or about Sammy. How could she have missed it? How could she have not even considered it?

She raised her hand to knock when she heard Jasmine's door open. Jasmine beamed at her, giving her a big kiss. "Hey birthday gal, I was just on my way to wish you a happy birthday!" She gave a strained smile, her wolf already feeling sick at the close interaction with a woman that wasn't hers.

"I'm gonna go get your breakfast started, meet me downstairs in 15." Jasmine said, swaying her hips as she walked away. She ignored her and turned back to the door that held her future. Her mate. She softly knocked and her heart leapt as a soft voice told her to come in.

She walked in and her heart stopped, Sammy. Her Sammy, her mate. She hadn't even gotten out of bed and she was breathtaking. Now she understood why she was attracted to her, even when dating Jasmine. Her heart smelled as she made her way to the bed. "Morning Oak! Happy Birthd-"

She didn't let her finish. She kissed her like her life depended on it. Sammy didn't even hesitate and kissed her back. They both moaned as their tongues fought for dominance. She gripped Sam's ass causing her to gasp, she switched her attention to her neck. Leaving kisses as she sucked and nibbled on the skin, Sam moaned and she nearly lost it.

She reached for Sam's shirt and attempted to drag it off of her when she was shoved back. They both stood apart, panting. She looked at her with adoration and lust but Sam looked back at her in horror. "No, no, no. Oak what have you done? Why?"

She grabbed Sam pulling her towards her, hugging her close. "It's you Sammy. You're meant for me and me for you." She nuzzled Sam's neck, loving how she shivered against her.

It was short lived, Sam shoved her away. "We can't."

She froze, "Excuse me?"

Sam's eyes glistened with tears ready to fall, "You know we can't, you're dating my best friend. practically my sister!" She whisper shouted.

She had forgotten about Jasmine, she had finally found her mate and it was someone she loved with her whole heart. Sam was perfect for her. There was no spark with Jasmine and now she knew why.

"Come on Sammy-" Sam stepped out of her reach.

"I'm serious Oakley. I won't be the one that breaks up what family I have left. Stay with Jasmine or I will reject you." Samantha threatened.

She couldn't believe her ears, Sam had asked about the mating bond and process long ago and was now using it against her. She was livid. She was heartbroken. but most of all she was patient, she knew her little human mate wouldn't be able to be without her forever.
