Crowfeather's heart started pounding. Leafpool. Join. WindClan. His thoughts were whirling around like crazy.

"You don't have to–" he protested, but Leafpool's mew cut him short. "I want to." she insisted. "But... they won't welcome you," Crowfeather knew that for a fact. "They'll treat you like a fox-hearted fox!"

"I know," Leafpool mewed, "I will get them to trust me. I'll join as a warrior, and a medicine cat helper, but not a medicine cat myself. Onestar would be foolish if he didn't accept an extra warrior and medicine cat."

"I don't know..." Crowfeather mewed numbly as Leafpool pressed her flank and entwined her tail with his. "It'll be fine." Leafpool reassured. "If they don't accept us... Maybe, can you join..."

"Yes." Crowfeather responded. "I will join ThunderClan. You'll risk your Clan for me, I'll do the same. Always." Leafpool's appreciation bubbled in the air, and Crowfeather laughed. He loved the way Leafpool was so happy when he did the same things she did– smaller than she did, like returning favors.

"I love you." Leafpool mewed. "I love you too." Crowfeather felt warmed to her heart.

Crowfeather and Leafpool traveled to WindClan– a short distance, but they delayed their visit as much as they could, because of fear.

Finally, at last, they were in WindClan camp. Curious and mad gazes followed them, but no cat had walked up to them, or openly challenged them as they padded to Onestar's den. Perhaps they know Onestar would provide a punishment for us already, Crowfeather thought.

"Crowfeather." Onestar mewed, as the two cats walked into the leader's den.

"Onestar." Crowfeather dipped his head politely. Onestar's expression darkend. "What has brought you back into my Clan?" Onestar growled, his voice threateningly low.

"I..." Crowfeather started, but Leafpool shushed him with a look that said she wanted to talk. "I want to join your Clan." Leafpool announced, and Onestar froze.

A few moments passed before Onestar narrowed his eyes. "I assume it's to be with Crowfeather, yes?" Leafpool blushed, and Crowfeather wondered why. Everyone knew they used to be mates now. "Yes." she said firmly. "I will train as a warrior, but I can also be a lot of help with medicine cat duties, though not a medicine cat myself." Onestar's eyes grew narrower.

"Will you be loyal to WindClan like you are to ThunderClan?" Onestar asked, his voice full of resent and sarcasm. Leafpool flinched, and Crowfeather inched closer to her, and stared at Onestar angrily.

Onestar sighed. "I can't lose a good warrior like you, Crowfeather. And I can't refuse that good of an offer..." he trailed off. "But I can't take in disloyal warriors either."

Crowfeather bristled. "Leafpool isn't disloyal!" Crowfeather mewed defensively, glaring at his leader.

Moments passed. Many moments. Crowfeather's paws tingled with impatience.

"Very well." Onestar finally said. "It seems to me that you have proved that you have loyalty, or have an idea of what that is."

"Thank you!" Leafpool mewed, happily.

"I will make the announcement on the Tallrock." Onestar mewed.

Onestar, like he promised, made the announcement to WindClan. Nightcloud was even angrier at him, he could tell, and his own son, Breezepelt too. Many of his clanmates shot glares at Crowfeather and his mate, but they couldn't do anything about it. Besides, it was their choice to choose the Clans, and that would be difficult...

Crowfeather curled up in the nest. He and Leafpool would be sharing a nest, since Nightcloud moved out, there was room. He purred as Leafpool tucked in closer.

"Do you like it here in WindClan?" he asked. Leafpool had been on patrol today, unlike Crowfeather. "It's different," Leafpool admitted. "But not in a bad way," she added quickly. "I like it."

"Don't lie to me." Crowfeather pleaded, and Leafpool gave him a comforting lick. "I'm not. I like staying in WindClan and I'm glad that I came here with you."

Crowfeather purred again. "I'm glad you're with me." He meant it way more than Leafpool would ever realize.

Crowfeather drifted off to deep, happy, sleep with dreams of the future– where he and Leafpool would have more kits, and he would be raising them with Leafpool, and showing them the ways of life.
