Chapter 5 { Trust }

Year 847, 2 years after the Fall of Wall Maria. The Training Corps is the branch of training and educating trainees to become members of the three main military branches. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin enlist last year, 846, only to be called out this year 847.

"You there! What's your name?!" The Cadet instructor shouted pointing at the blonde short haired bo.

"Armin Arlert, From Shiganshina!"

"Yeah? That's a stupid name. Your parents give you that?" He asked as Armin replied that it was his Grandfather who gave it to him.

"Armin, What are you doing here!"

"Trying to aid Humanities victory!" He responds shouting.

"That is, wonderful...then you will feed the Titans," Keith Shadis said with an intimidating voice as he got to the next one and traveled to every last one of them and as always, all of them are intimidated except the people who had lack of fear like Mikasa.

Keith was a tall and intimidating man. He was bald, with prominent wrinkles on his forehead and dark circles around his eyes. He had a small beard growing from under his chin.

Eren who was staying at the back row we're so busy in his thought that he didn't expect that Kieth Shadis was already on his front and staring at him intensely. His eyes were still close, maybe he was tired or just talking to Ymir again.

"Eren wakes up! The ugly instructor in front of you."

As he opens his eyes, The first thing he notices is that every last one of the cadets is staring at him and those looks show a hint of fear. "He is going to die," They all thought and Keith grab Eren by his head using both of his arms.

"And why are you sleeping early in the morning, young man?!" He shouted while Eren just stayed still letting the Instructor grab him in the head and stayed mid-air. His arm is strong is what Eren thought.

"Because I am tired sir, but rest assured I'm ready to sacrifice my life anytime to fight for Humanity!" The grab gets tightened to the point Eren's veins pooped out and his head sweat.

"Really, huh? Saying such honorable words with such compassion and here you are, slacking off!! Tell me, boy, Do you want to get eaten by the Titans?!" Keith shouted as everyone is sweating due to his intimidating appearance and voice.

"No sir!"

"What's your name brat?!"

"Eren Yaeger, from Shiganshina!"

"Why are you here?!" He asked.

"To fight for Humanity's survival!" Eren responded with determination.

"Then you better don't slack of, damn brat!" Kieth shouted before putting him down.

After half a day of introduction and making all of them submit in fear. All the cadets can finally rest, though some of them didn't make it. "If you aren't strong enough, you have to leave, Hard to believe that they would rather go back picking some rocks," Eren said as he watch the dropouts leave the camp.

"Wait, aren't you the kid from Shigashina, the same as him?" Marco asked referring to Armin and Eren.

"Y-yeah...

"Then, you were there that day! Did you see the Colossal Titan?" Connie Springer asked.

"No, I didn't. That day, I ran to my house to save my mother," Eren responded and then grab Armin pushing him in the front. "My friend, Armin saw it,"

"EH!!" Armin yelled out and with that, a change of scenario happen. Instead of Eren telling them the story, this time it was Armin who do it. Shouts and bawl can be heard inside as Eren decided to leave since he was finished with his food.

"Where are you going, Eren?" Mikasa asked suspiciously because for the last two years. Eren always disappeared at night and returned back always tired. "Just need some air," He replied.

Eren notice that Mikasa is staring at him with a glare, not quite satisfied with his answer. "Don't stare at me like that, Mikasa, You're scaring me," He sarcastically said and Mikasa's face didn't even change.

"Eren tell me, Where are you going? every night you disappear," She asked while following Eren.

In the past two years, Eren Yaeger has been sneaking every night to train his body to use the Founder's power effectively. Out of all the people in the household, Only Mikasa notice it, even so, she didn't tell Carla. Mikasa doesn't want her to be worried after all.

Eren smiled. "Who knows," as he walk away, but before he could live. He notice something dropped on the ground. He gulped as he pick it up and hide it in his pocket as he stared at Mikasa. The one who throws it at him, that shiny white crystal.

"I saw that strange thing in the woods where you always go and disappear without a trace. One night I sneak to find out what are you hiding. That shiny crystal is what I found, not just that. I saw you make it out of thin air while falling on the ground countless times tired." Mikasa stated.

She continues, Eren staring at her without any hint of surprise or fear that Mikasa will tell his mom. "Eren...what are you hiding?" The air felt tense between them. He notices that someone is listening too, but he doesn't mind since that person can be trusted.

Mikasa is waiting for an answer and after a whole minute of awkwardness, Eren finally gives in. "You won't believe it even if I tell you," Mikasa knows Eren ever since she was just a child and she is also aware that, if Eren is hiding something then he has a reason for it. 

"Mikasa, will you believe me if I tell you that Titans are also Humans?" He asked while Mikasa stare at him in surprise and nodded in the end.

"A person who can turn into a Titan was called Titan Shifter. My father possesses one of the Nine Titans, The Attack Titan. And since The Power of the Nine Titans lasted only for 13 years, that only means that my father's time is up, so he needs to pass it down," Eren trusted Mikasa to understand him.

"Do you remember how father died?" he asked.

"He got eaten by a Titan is what the village thought, but mom, me, and you believe that I was because of that lightning that suddenly appeared and hit the ground," Mikasa answered and Eren shrugged.

"When a Titan shifter transformed, A lightning comes from the sky hitting the position of that person. That day, father injects something on me, a thunderstruck and I become mindless Titan and eat him."

Mikasa looked at him in shock. "Wh-at...you...killed him?"

"Yes and No," Eren responded.

"My father's time is up so he needs to pass down his Titan power. The only way to do that is to make me a Titan and allow himself to be eaten. I know ow it's unbelievable, but it's true. Mikasa, Titans are once a Human."

Mikasa was scared and surprised at the same time. Eren was just staring at her without any hint of emotion. It seems that his emotionless self in the first timeline has been also applied here. She deeply breathes as she processes the information so fast.

She stares at him. "With what i saw that night, i can't really argue with you about it being a lie. But why? Why didn't tell anyone?"

"The King knows all of this all along. Everything, the Titans and its secret, but he didn't tell anyone. It was all classified, the king wants us to be ignorant and avoid us to find out the truth. Mikasa, whatever we talk about here, you can tell Armin but not anyone. This information is classified and anyone who has the knowledge of it will be eliminated"

"By who?"
