The next day, we packed up our supplies and started our journey to the Lake of Vacares. It was a long walk; we had some conversations on our way.

"Hey Alice, why didn't you tell us about your powers before?" asked me intrigued.

"I don't know, I don't know I even have such powers," replied Alice.

"How about you, Mr. Roger? Do you know anything about her powers?" asked me to him.

"I was told that Alice is a pure human because her biological mother is a normal human. To know what's up with her for sure though, I need to consult with one of the Vacares people," replied Mr. Roger.

"Father, am I dangerous?" asked Alice.

"No and yes, just like a knife you can use your power for good or for bad," explained Mr. Roger.

"Don't worry Alice, you used your power to save your father, that is pretty much a good thing to do, right?" commented Ethan.

"Okay, thank you Father, and Mr. Ethan," thanked Alice, blushing.

After a couple of hours into the journey, we took a rest in a clearing inside the forest. We had some bread for breakfast, and we also had some conversation while having our lunch.

"Say, Father, we are in the part of the forest where there are some berries, can I and Ethan go out a bit to get those delicious berries?" asked Alice.

"Sure, go ahead; Mr. Ethan, I entrusted you to protect my daughter," answered Mr. Roger.

"Yes sir, I will protect her," replied Ethan.

While they were gone, I and Mr. Roger had a conversation about life and family.

And then Mr. Roger asked, "Why would you risk everything for us?"

"What do you mean" replied me confused.

"Why did you aim at the chief of police and risk everything you have? Your job, your relationship, et cetera," clarified Mr. Roger.

"Well, I don't know, it is an instant reaction to a mistreatment perhaps," answered me.

"But didn't you said you like the life you had?" asked Mr. Roger again.

"I did, but the life I had was a life of risks, what I chose to do yesterday is as usual as what I used to do at Marseille," answered me.

"Ahh, I think I see your point, lad," replied Mr. Roger.

"In any case, I live by my principle, and I can't let you guys that are innocent to be shot," asserted me to Mr. Roger.

"In any case, I hope you can meet your wife again," said Mr. Roger.

"Yeah, I hope, hopefully, we can get to Corsica," replied me.

Then suddenly Ethan and Alice came back running and said "Sir, we need to get away ASAP," "Father we need to get away now," Shouted both to both of us each.

"What happened?" asked me confused.

"There is someone that is following us, we confronted him, and he escaped" explained Ethan.

"WHAT, did he know we are going to Vacares?" asked Mr. Roger surprised.

"Luckily not, but I afraid that they may able to deduce our location and our destination," answered Ethan.

"Well, what are waiting for? We need to go now," said Mr. Roger.

"Agreed, we need to get to the port as soon as possible," replied me.

After that incident, we immediately continued our journey to the settlement near Vacares.

After hours of walking, we finally saw it, we saw a small village. Then Mr. Roger directed us to a house and got inside.

"What are we doing in this house? I thought they are friendly to werewolves and witches" asked Ethan.

"They are the friendliest folk I know, but there are some travellers here, and we don't want the information about us to be told at Arles," explained Mr. Roger.

"Oh okay, understood," replied Ethan.

Then Mr. Roger asked the woman inside to call the chief villager Adam.

After a while, the chief villager Adam got out and greeted us and asked us,

"Good afternoon, ahh Mr. Roger from the Loup clan, is there something you need?"

"Yes, there are, we are chased by a mob," replied Mr. Roger.

"And what is it that we can help?" asked the chief.

"We need to go to Corsica," said Mr. Roger.

"Well considered it done, we can carry all of you next week," replied the chief.

"We can't afford to wait, it needs to be this night," replied Mr. Roger.

"But we have no sailing ship available, do you want to row to Corsica?" said the chief.

"How about the Loup de la Mer?" asked Mr. Roger.

"That boat? It wasn't seaworthy, it broke down and we haven't fixed it fully yet, anyway, why tonight? Is there something wrong?" answered and asked the chief.

"Our location has been compromised, and I am pretty sure a mob will get here by tomorrow, now can your people fix it by tonight?" explained and asked Mr. Roger.

"For the Loup clan, we will do our best to fix it, you have my word, now you all should go to the port to hide" replied the chief.

And just like that our ship would be ready by night, and we went to the port.

We hid inside the small port, while we hid, we sparked some conversation.

"Hmm, hey Mr. Roger, why would that chief help you out that fast?" asked Ethan.

"Well boy, back in the day, we the Loup clan is one of the richest families on France. But most of us are 'nonhuman,' and most of us escaped through this port. As thanks to the locals, we help them financially to create this small village. Of course, to minimize attention most of the money went to educate a lot of children from this village and to create a small town at Corsica, and for that, the locals felt they were deeply in debt, thus helping us without hesitation," explained Mr. Roger.

"Ahh, that is incredible," replied Ethan.

"Well, we can have a rest then, until the villagers finish the fix at least," said me.

"Yes indeed, but be wary lads, I worry the mob will get here early," replied Mr. Roger a bit afraid.

"It will be fine, they need to prepare and walk for 4 hours to this place, I am pretty sure the one who even gets here will simply be a representative from Arles," said me calming Mr. Roger.

After calming Mr. Roger we waited until the boat is fixed. And hey, it seemed that the storm had passed over, right?
