You sat exhausted from your mathematics class.
You wanted to skip this class so badly but you had a test coming up on Friday. You didn't feel like missing anything.
You fidgeted with your pencil as you stared at the numbers on your paper. ''This shit a whole other language'' you thought. Your frustration continued until you heard someone speak.
''Do you mind?''
You stopped and turned your head over to the person sitting next to you. Unknowingly, you had been tapping your pencil on the desk.
There was a grunt of frustration as they grumbled, "It's fucking irritating,'' Connie Springer.
''Sorry,'' you mumble.
Connie was one of your worst enemies. You didn't like him at all, and you always felt bad whenever he was near. As if teasing you wasn't enough, humiliation and blackmailing also played a part.
You guys met in the 7th grade, you were a new student. You had to switch schools because of a murder that happened at your old one.
Pretty traumatizing for some folks but you seemed fine by the incident. Your parents flipped out and immediately put you in a new school. The school was called (make one up ). It started out pretty well until you met him.
Connie was harsh and an asshole most of the time you were around him, but the sweetest when he was with teachers.
As a result of his persuasiveness, teachers always believed Connie over you, so you never had the opportunity to challenge him. The teasing continued. The teasing continued in high school and college. Does he not have anything better to do? You huffed and went back to work. As you scribbled on your paper and wrote algorithms, you gradually made progress. As you looked at your notes and textbooks, the bell interrupted you, causing you to groan.
"You all are dismissed'' the teacher spoke. ''Please make sure to study for the test this Friday!'' she said across the class.
As soon as you finally got an answer, you felt disappointed. You had to improve. While grabbing his stuff, he taunted, "It appears someone is still struggling with the basics."
You mock his insensitive tone, "It appears someone can't mind their own business.". It was so tempting to grab his somewhat bald head and toss it across the room. You glared instead. Taking his paper and backpack, he headed towards Ms. Zoe. 'Good job, Mr.Springer, and thank you' she said.
''You're welcome Ms.Zoe'' he spoke sweetly.
Leaving the classroom, he put his hands in his pockets and waited outside for someone. He tossed a red candy into his mouth as a way to pass the time. While observing, he chewed lightly on the hard candy.
While Connie stood outside, you followed up.
Ms.Zoe greeted you with a smile as you reacted with an uneasy one. You handed her the papers, ''I couldn't finish 5 and 7 Ms.Zoe'' you said not satisfied with your work. ''It's fine y/n, take it home to finish and I will grade it in the morning'' she smiled. Your eyes lightened a bit. ''Alright,'' you nodded letting a delighted smile show. ''I can't help but notice a pattern though y/n'' you frown on the inside. 'damn, what is it now?'
''Do you perhaps need help with the subject?'' she asked. You thought for a moment. ''Well-'' you started. Was this really a good decision? Did you need it?
''Y-'' Yes, was what you were about to say until she spoke.
''Tutoring is always an option you know! I'll be happy to partner you up with Connie!'' she replied. You were on board until she pulled that mess. She seemed too enthusiastic. All these teachers are feeding Connie's ridiculous ego.
Upon hearing his name, Connie immediately listened. Looking at the door, you saw him peering inside and glancing at you. On one shoulder, you carried your bag, your math text in your hands, and your glasses perfectly aligned on the bridge of your nose. A light laugh escaped his lips.
A harsh glare is directed at him. Taking a bite of the candy, he winked at you.
''Keep smiling you bitch'' you mumbled. ''Excuse me?'' Ms.Zoe asked making a face. ''Oh, Ms. Zoe, I was thinking about my schedule, and I don't think tutoring is really appropriate for me right now,'' you gave a tight lip smile.
''Oh, well ok then!'' she laughed. ''Yeah,'' you laughed awkwardly trailing off. You then walked out of the class ignoring Connie who just stood at the door. He stared at you while you walked somewhere. He grinned and followed you.
