No fricking way.

I'm dreaming, right? This isn't real, it's just a dream, there is no way this is real.

Avery honey, it's real.

Holy mac and cheese. I cannot believe who just walked through the doors. Without a second to waste, I slide out of the booth and bolt towards the door.

I am embraced with a warm loving hug. I feel safe. This is what home feels like. Home feels like my best friends hugs. Before I knew it, I started sobbing, sobbing and bawling my eyes out, in the middle of my workplace. But I couldn't help it, I haven't seen my best friend in over 2 years. They were happy tears.

"Derryn! What are you doing back?" I ask while I'm still in a tight hug.

"I came back to see my best friend obviously, oh and I'm finished with school," she giggled.

I step out of our hug and I take a closer look at my best friend.

Derryn Alyssa Hart. My best friend for as long as I can remember. She is the one person who has stuck by me no matter what kind of problems I have going on in my life.

She is precisely the definition of perfect. Her golden blonde hair falls straight past her shoulders, just above her waist. Her eyes are the purest green eyes I've ever come across. She has perfect rosy cheeks. Her lips have a slight pink tint to them. Her skin is flawless, she practically glows amongst the sun.

She's perfect in every way that I'm not.

But I don't tell her that because I know she would lecture me and not be very happy. I don't want my best friend to be upset, so I prefer keeping thoughts like that to myself.

I snap out of my thoughts when I hear her speak, "Avery? Are you ok?" she questions.

"I'm more than ok now, we have to catch up!" I squeal while embracing her into my arms once again.

Avery, what about that beautiful piece of human flesh you were just sitting with before? If you don't want him, hand him over.

I let go of Derryn and I turn around to the booth I was sitting at before. He was gone. How did he even leave? I didn't even see him, nor did I hear the bell? Weird.

A part of me felt wistful though. Although in my head I called him a 'kidnapper', he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Well in my opinion anyway.

"What are you staring at Avery?" Derryn was confused.

"Oh nothing, before I was having lunch with some guy, let me tell you, he was like the yummiest looking person ever," I earned a frown from her.

"After you, of course, you're the yummiest looking person I've ever met," saying this made her smile.

"Want to come over to my place? We can hang out and I can fill you in on everything!" I knew Derryn wasn't going to take no for an answer, I was going to say yes anyway, but before I could speak, Derryn yells out "SUSAN! I'm KIDNAPPING YOUR BEST EMPLOYEE, I'LL BRING HER BACK IN ONE PIECE, I PROMISE!"

Derryn gets a hold of my forearm and drags me out of the door. Off we go I guess.

After a short drive, we arrived at an apartment.

"After you, your majesty," I laugh at Derryn's silly joke.

I am welcomed into a small apartment but it feels cosy and I could truthfully admit that I would move in if I was allowed to leave 'home'.

I plop down onto the couch, Derryn joining me seconds later with lots of snacks in her hands.

Where on Earth did she get those.

"Eat up Avery! I have lots to talk about!" she pointed to the snacks. If only she knew I hadn't gotten any better.

"I'm ok thank you, I'm not too hungry, talk, I'll listen," I try my best to reassure her.

She just shrugs it off, that's good I guess? She doesn't suspect anything and she didn't force me into eating.

As she begins to talk, I listen to every word, only speaking when I have a question. We had been talking for what felt like hours. I check the clock hanging on the wall.

Crap.

It was way past curfew.

"Derryn, as much as I would like to stay and chat, it's past curfew, I need to go, are you ok with driving me?" I ask in a panic.

Please say yes, please say yes.

"Of course, I will, are your parents still doing this whole curfew thing?" I nod in response.

Derryn knows about my whole situation, she knows about how my parents talk to me, how my parents hit me, how my parents take our rent money to buy alcohol and drugs, how they make me clean up after them, she knows everything, well almost everything. I trust her with my whole life.

We quickly get into the car and put our seatbelts on, as soon as she turns the engine on, she backs out of the parking lot. Derryn knows how important this is.

The drive back to my house feels like hours on end, but we eventually make it.

I quickly thank Derryn for the ride and the time that we had with each other. I scramble towards the door and unlock it with a key. I take a look around and sigh when I see the house is in the same condition it was in the morning, if not, there was even more of a mess. What scared me was that my parents were nowhere in sight. I tiptoed down the hallway, towards my room. I see that the door is shut. As I go to turn the doorknob to enter my room, the door flies open.

My parents were standing right in front of me and it was not a pretty sight.

I'm in trouble.
