soulmate au where when you write on your arm with a marker, it shows up on theirs :)

"Heyy, Kami? Have you gotten anything yet?" Ashido asked, hanging over the back of the couch.

Kaminari had been sitting there with a marker, writing small notes on his arms like he did often, a wet flannel on the table next to him to rub it off when he ran out of space or something. "Ah.. no." It was common knowledge that Kaminari would do this often; write to his arm, and get no response. Sometimes he believed that he just.. didn't have a soulmate.

"Have they ever written back? They don't seem like a very good soulmate.." Ashido's voice seemed sad and full of pity, as it always was. She was one of the few people who knew how clingy Kaminari was, and how much he needed someone to be there for him for hugs and comfort. She often took on that role, as a big sister type of role for the blonde, but he needed someone to actuallly love. She was gonna have a word with his soulmate when they finally met the bastard.

"Well.. once- when I was.. thirteen, I think? I don't know." Kaminari shook his head lightly, trying to clear it and remember. Though, he didn't much feel like talking about it. Thankfully, Ashido saw this, and simply hummed in response, not pushing on any further.

People would usually gain the soulmate connection in their teens, and messages would begin to appear on eachothers arms. One day, Kaminari saw.. a picture of a cat. He'd written back a simple; 'hii!!' It wasn't a long conversation, but it was a conversation nonetheless. Just a simple 'hello?' was all he received back, and from then on, it was blank. Maybe the soul connection had been lost as soon as it'd been established? Maybe his soulmate just hated him, who knows. But everyone around him was always having conversations with their soulmates.. it just- he hated how lonely he felt amongst them.

He'd had a silly crush on Jirou near the start of their friendship, hoping that maybe, it could spark into something more- soulmates or not. But then they figured out that Yaoyorozu was their soulmate, so Kaminari had to push his feelings aside, and instead be there for them as a friend- which he was glad for, in the end, at least they were friends. But it still hurt, knowing he would never get a partner.

Shaking his head, Kaminari pushed the thoughts aside. He couldn't get emotional in the common rooms. "What about you, Ashido? You talked to your soulmate today or not?" He asked, looking up at the pink girl.

"Mmm, not today- they're busy studying, haha. I'll just write to them later or something." She shrugged, though a small smile decorated her face.

"When are you gonna meet them?"

"Mm.. I don't know. I'll ask them soon, maybe."

Kaminari nodded, with a soft smile. "That sounds nice."

"I wish your soulmate would write you back." Ashido's voice seemed more harsh now, and Kaminari knew it was aimed at his soulmate. Of course it was, Ashido had decided a long time ago that she didn't like whoever it was. And to be fair, neither did he, at the moment.

"What have you been writing?" Ashido decided to ask, pushing herself over the back of the couch and squeezing next to Kaminari, who had been leaning against the arm.

"Mm, just random doodle, to be honest. And saying hi, and stuff." He hummed, leaning against Ashido and putting his head on her shoulder as he showed his arm. There were mostly doodles of cats, and pikachu, with little things like 'zap zap!' or 'hello :)', Ashido even managed to spot a little 'please talk to me' which in all honesty, wasn't surprising. Kaminari felt alone, she knew that.
