Adventures Of An Awkward Red-Head is based on the character Toby from my book Define Normal, (Ongoing) as he navigates the last few weeks of Freshman year.
With three short stories, Toby realizes that he not only loves reading mysteries, but he loves solving them too!
Part 1 - The Carla Problem.
Carla McKenzie has been Toby's crush since the beginning of the year. She doesn't seem like most girls, she's never rude, doesn't try too hard and almost never complains. However, when one Monday morning Carla walks into Science with tear-stained cheeks and a frightened look on her face, Toby is desperate to help the girl of his dreams with what he was assuming was just simple high school drama. If only he knew that this was just the beginning.
Part 2 - Confessions Of A Football Team.
Toby was proud of himself for solving Carla's problem. Things were back to normal. Well, he thought. After what happened, Toby can't keep his freckled nose out of trouble. He's been searching the school for another mystery. It was only when he was ready to give up before the mystery came to him. Ryson Clark, linebacker of the football team called Toby late at night, only a week after he helped Carla. Ryson claims that the football team is hiding something. Something that could ruin a person, and Ryson has the inside info.
Part 3 - The Case That Ends It All
After the last case, Toby swears he's done with mysteries. He decides that sometimes, it's safer to read them. So, Toby gives up on his crime-solving days, focusing more on his relationships with his friends. With only a week until grad, the Student Body President pulls Toby out of class, claiming that she had found something shocking, but she didn't know what it meant. Toby finds a pattern in the mysteries, all on the same day, exactly a week apart. Something big was about to happen.
