A Semester in Moorseville

Chapter One

Hadley POV

I woke up at 6:00 this morning to an empty house. I had to sleep on a sleeping bag last night because all of our furniture was already in our house in North Carolina. I brush my teeth and walk downstairs to get in the car. We have 13 hours in the car ahead of us and I am not looking forward to it.

I said a long goodbye to my best friend Piper and I promised I'd call and FaceTime and blah, blah, blah. After about a half and hour of waiting for the rest of my family to come out of the house to leave we finally got going. We stop at Starbucks for muffins and coffee and we're on our way.

Since we have some time, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Hadley Ann Woods, I am 14 years old and turn 15 on July 4th. I'm about 5'6" with long blonde hair and naturally tan skin. I've had 3 boyfriends in my past schools, but those all only lasted a couple of months. I'm not shy at all and very loud and outgoing. I play volleyball and basketball but I am also one of the smartest in my classes. I love swimming, and the beach or lake is my go-to place. I am a singer and am pretty good at it. I also have a golden retriever named Sawyer because we got him in Sawyer, North Dakota. Traveling is something I love to do because I have been introduced to it for a very long time. I'm not very good with maintaining friendships, relationships or trusting people because I never have a long enough time to build them up.

I have two siblings. A fraternal twin named Hunter and and older brother named Cooper. Cooper will turn 18 in August. My parents named us after the cities we were born in. Coopersville, Michigan and Huntington, California. The doctor that delivered my brother and I was Dr. Zachary S. Hadley which is where my name comes in. My love from travel comes from moving all around and the meaning of our names.

We stopped in Philadelphia for lunch and I got Chick-fil-A. 5 hours down, 8 to go. I watched an entire season of FRIENDS and some Pretty Little Liars episodes to pass the time. Since we have absolutely no food in the car left either the family stopped at a little restaurant in the main part of town. After dinner we kept driving and we're almost to our new house. On the way we drive by the new school I'll be going to-Davidson Day.

We pull into the neighbourhood, which is pretty nice I might add and go to our new house. It's in a little cul-de-sac that backs up to a lake. Our house is big and brick with a long driveway and a freshly cut lawn. There was nobody outside which was expected because it was getting dark out. My mom headed off to the grocery store to fill our fridge and my brothers and I separated to go to organise and unpack our rooms.

My room is a tan color with white furniture, and a beach bedspread. I have a big jar with all of my shells in it on my desk. There's a whole wall that's a whiteboard map of the United States so I can make notes on it and look at it a lot. I started with the easiest things and strung my lights around my bed frame and doors. Then I made my bed and put things on my nightstand. I hung all of my medals on my desk cork board and put all of my trophies on the shelves. I get sidetracked easily so by the time that was done it was already 11:00 and I needed to go to bed. I went downstairs to say goodnight to my parents and then fell asleep on my new bed, in my new room, in my new house, in a different state just like I had done 20 times previously.
