"Hey babe," Alice said while walking into my study. I decided to remodel the safe house and add some things of my own. Including Axel's room.

"Hey. What's up," I said putting away my research. I've been planning ways to take down Alcet for months.

"Axel just wanted to say goodnight because it's his bedtime," Alice said while Axel came in shyly.

"Since when does he have a bedtime?" I asked confused.

"Sam. He starts school tomorrow," she said like I was dumb.

"Yeah, homeschool. Let him stay up for another hour he'll be fine," I said not really caring how she felt about it. "Come here Ax," I said while getting out my chair and sitting on the couch. "Babe can you make me a sandwich please?" I asked sweetly so I could talk to him in private.

"Whatever you want," she said annoyed.

"Wait. Come here," I said while standing up and pulling her in my arms. "I love you," I said while kissing her.

"Love you too," she said while heading to make my sandwich.

"Now Ax. You have a gift in you that only you and I share. Soon, it will just be you. You will be the last one left. Your mom can't always help because she doesn't really understand. Just know, it's not you're fault. You probably have no idea what I'm talking about but you will soon find out," I said while sitting next to him.

"Are you going to die?" He asked sadly.

"Yes. I am. Just know that I love you," I said while kissing him on his forehead. "Now go to bed. It's getting late," I said before he ran upstairs to his bedroom.

When I went out to the kitchen, Alice was making my sandwich. "Thank you," I said while kissing her neck from behind.

"You're welcome," she said while turning around and putting half the sandwich in my mouth.

"I love it when you feed me," I said sarcastically.

"Where's Ax?" She asked while sitting down at the table.

"Sleep. Why?" I asked. But I never got to hear an answer because the next thing I know, I see black SUVs pull up outside the window. "Hide," I say before getting up.

"Why?" She said while turning to look where I was looking. As soon as she did that, the door burst open and four guys in all black suits came in with guns.

"Freeze!" They yelled. "Check upstairs!" One yelled as two went upstairs. Alice gave me a scared look.

When the two came down empty handed, relief filled me. "Kill him. Leave her. We don't want her dad to kill us," the one in charge said while leaving.

"Get down!" A familiar voice yelled while pointing a gun at Alice and I.

"Chris?" I asked in confusion.

"Hello Sam. Long time no see huh," he said angrily.

"Chris I thought we were friends."

"Would a friend leave his buddy behind?" He spit back. This shut me up.

Out the corner of my eye I saw movement. Axel. "Kill me. Just do it already. Or do you not have the guts?" I asked tormenting him.

"He doesn't. But I do," a guy said while pointing a gun at my head. The next thing I saw was complete darkness.
