PART 5/6

____

"Why though?" She asked.

My skin crawled, I could feel my stomach tie itself in knots. I didn't realize a confession would be this hard.

"I guess it can be like...a boyfriend hoodie..." I trailed off. I could feel my cheeks burn.

"Careful saying that stuff so carefree...I might actually think you're asking me out." She laughed, but there was sadness hidden beneath her laughter.

I was trying to ask her out. I like her more than anything. Why can't she understand that?

"What if I was actually asking you out?" I managed to open my mouth.

Her lips parted to speak, but nothing came out. Instead she just stared at me with her mouth hanging open. She looked as though she was in shock. Was she going to say anything?

"Before you answer and if you don't mind, could you follow me for a sec?" I spoke in her turn. I rose from my seat and held out my arm for her to take my hand. I hoped she'd take my hand. I was desperate to feel her skin again.

Her hand reached for mine and gently rested in my palm. Even though I tried to conceal my excitement, a gasp managed to escape me.

"Sorry. I still can't believe how soft your skin is...it's fascinating." I admitted.

I carefully pulled her up from her seat and had her follow me away from the porch.

"Where are we going?" She asked as we walked around our building.

"Around the back." I answered.

Just as we pass a nearby bush, I subtly stuck up my thumbs. Bakugo and Mina were hiding out in that bush. They were on guard for the evening. To make sure nothing got in our way.

Then we finally reached the spot. I felt very proud of myself for being able to pull something like this off.

There was the small picnic blanket, surrounded with different pillows and candles that had been placed in mason jars . There was fairy lights hanging in the trees and bushes that Bakugo helped hang. There was the small picnic basket placed on the blanket, surrounded by an assortment of flowers. Red petals I had thrown in the 'pathway' that led towards the blanket.

"Holy heck..." She whispered under her breath.

I tightened my grip around her hand. Her skin was slowly merging with my own.

"I hope you like this." I responded.

"This is for me?"

"Yes! I wanted to...ask you out...but I wanted to make a great romantic gesture, ya know. I wanted to give you something as beautiful as you. Though I did get help from Mina and Bakugo to help set this all up..."

"You're asking me out?" She asked as if in utter disbelief.

"Yes. I have wanted to ask you out for some time now. I've liked you since I first laid eyes on you. Everything you do gives me butterflies in my stomach. All my thoughts disappear when I talk to you. I always feel my cheeks burn up when I see you and listen to you speak." I managed to speak my feelings. But I wasn't finished.

I took a small pause to catch my breath before continuing.

"I know this might sound corny. I have never felt this way before. I thought that all these feelings would soon pass, but they never have. I discovered that I love you (Y/N). I love you so much! When I had Mic translate what you had said to me, I couldn't believe what I had heard. It felt as though my ears were on fire. I didn't know if it was true or if you were just teasing me, that's why I had asked for you to stay behind after class...I had no idea where you had gone. I phoned Mina and asked where you were. She explained everything to me and I did too. She then offered to help me ask you out..." I finally finished. I had said everything that had been sitting on my chest for so long. My whole body finally relaxed.

Without warning, (Y/N) threw her arms around my waist. Her face was buried in my chest. She was pressed so tightly against my body. I felt like my mind was about to explode. She was so close. I managed to lift my arms and wrap them around her. Pulling her even closer into me.

"I never want to let you go Softy." I whispered into her ear.

"I never want you to let me go." She mumbled into my chest. The vibrations of her voice slightly tickled.

I leaned my chin on her head. I was the happiest man in the whole world.

"So does this mean you will go to the ball with me?" I asked, just to make sure there was no miscommunication.

"A million times yes." She giggled as she lifted her head to meet my gaze.

"You're literally the most amazing person I have ever met! I...I never want to leave your side!" I moved my hands to cup her cheeks. Her face was so cute. I just wanted to kiss it all over. Luckily I had some self-control and knew that I should wait.

"How about we sit and enjoy the moment." I suggested, pulling her closer to the picnic.

I helped her down in her seat. I immediately started placing pillows around her. Just to make sure she stayed warm and comfortable.

We sat with each other and spoke about everything. There wasn't a single moment that felt out of place. She inched closer to me to rest her head on my lap. She did it so naturally. It made my heart jump. She just casually lay there as she stared up into the starry night sky. I took this as my chance to stroke her hair as I too watched the sky.

We both sat in comfortable silence. With an odd mention about an 'extra sparkly' star. It was the best night of my life. I couldn't even focus in the present. My mind was drifting away with the cloud. I hadn't noticed how much time had passed. I didn't even notice that (Y/N) had fallen asleep in my lap. It was only when I pointed out a shooting star and she didn't respond that I finally noticed her sleeping peacefully. It was time to take her to her bed.

I carefully slipped my hand under her head to move her to a pillow. That way I managed to get up to my feet, ready to pick her up and carry her home. That's when I noticed Mina and Bakugo emerge from their hiding spot.

"Were you guys in the bushes this whole time?" I asked, slightly embarrassed from knowing that they might have listened in on the conversations too.

"We had to! I had to make sure everything was going according to plan!" Mina exclaimed. A huge smile spread across her face.

"And who did you think was going to clean up after you annoying love-birds." Bakugo added.

"Sorry 'bout that. I'll just take (Y/N) up to her room and I'll come help clean up."

I quietly crouched down and carefully lifted (Y/N) into my arms. Trying to make sure she didn't wake up or let any part of me sink inside her. I swiftly carried her back inside. A few of our classmates were still awake and chatting in the living room. Seeing (Y/N) unconscious in my arms must have looked concerning.

"Is she alright? What happened?" Midoriya asked, rushing over.

"Yeah, she's just asleep. She had a big day." I quietly chuckled.

Midoriya put his hand over his mouth, as if to apologize for being loud. I just laughed and continued on my journey to her room, but by the time I was in front of her door it was obvious that I wouldn't be able to open it on my own.

I decided to head to Uraraka's room and tap my foot on her door. When she opened the door and saw (Y/N) curled up in my arms, her whole face lit up. She knew what had happened. I quietly asked her to help me open (Y/N)'s door. Once opened I quietly tiptoed in and place (Y/N) on her bed. I pulled her covers over her body and sat on the edge of the bed as I tucked her in. My eyes wandered around her dark room, admiring anything that I could see. Eventually I rested my gaze back on (Y/N). She looked so calm. Without thinking, my hand reached out to caress her cheek. It was incredibly soft.
I knew that I had already overstayed my welcome. I rose from the bed and knelt down by the head of her bed. I inched closer to her face. My heart was now racing. My finger gently stroked along her hairline as I brought my lips closer to her forehead. Planting a small kiss. I knew it was wrong to do this without her knowledge, but I just couldn't help myself. She was just too adorable. I'll eventually tell her what I did one day.

I then tiptoed my way back out of her room. Quietly closing the door behind me. I rushed down the hall, heading back to the picnic spot. I did promise to help them clean up after all.

I just couldn't contain my happiness anymore. My excitement for the ball only grew as the minutes flew by.
