Chapter 40

"I hate this place..." Y/n sighed as she wandered aimlessly through dark corridors. She had lost the rest of the group and now she had no idea what to do or where to go. Y/n suddenly stood still as a faint ringing sound reached her ears. Looking around, y/n tried to find the source. "It's just a wall..." Y/n muttered to herself as she ran her fingers over the stone, though this was the area where the faint ringing was the most prominent.

"Y/n..." The goddess perked up as she faintly heard her name being whispered.

"What..?" Y/n observed the wall a little closer, her eyes widening as she spotted a gemini symbol carved into the stone. She took a deep breath as she reached out to touch the carving, preparing herself for a hint of her past to wash over her. As expected, as soon as she touched the carving, her vision went white before a scene played out before her.

"Find her! She couldn't've gone far!" She heard distant voices yelling. Despite opening her eyes, her vision was dark. She realized she was hiding. Straining her ears, y/n could hear the crackling of flames and the clinking of armor. Soldiers were putting the village up in flames just to find her. It made her feel sick.

"Y/n! Where are you?!" She heard another voice call out after the soldiers had passed. She instantly recognized it. It belonged to the mysterious man that kept appearing in her visions. She felt tempted to exit her hiding spot, but before she could decide on what to do, she heard the man cry out in pain. Jumping out from her hiding spot y/n saw the man struggling to get out of the harsh grip of two soldiers.

"There she is!"

"Get her!"

"Y/n run!" The man cried out, only to receive a punch to the face. Time seemed to slow, everything around her becoming quiet, the only sound she could hear was her heart pounding faster and faster, anger bubbling in her veins. She felt herself leap forward, only to find herself staring back at a stone wall. The vision was over.

"That place...That scenario..." Y/n sighed and pressed her forehead against the wall as she thought about all of her past visions. She gasped as she remembered the vision she had back when she found the Libra symbol up in Skypiea. It was similar, the setting, the emotions she was feeling. "This vision must've happened right before..." She trailed off as she remembered the sensation of the sharp winds against her face as she sliced through soldiers and villagers alike through her rage. It had to have been rage born from seeing that mysterious man being hurt because of her.

The goddess understood now that his man must've been a big part of her past lives, as he was always reoccurring in her memories, but she just wished she could know more. She wished she could understand why he was important, who he was. She thought of the memory that played out right before finding the first zodiac stone, the dialogue that played out as she was paralyzed in the ocean.

"I love you." He had said. Y/n couldn't help but wish she could hear it again. It made butterflies erupt in her stomach, but it felt like her heart was being torn out in the same moment.

"Just keep searching." Y/n sighed and stepped away from the wall. Failing to notice some debris on the floor, y/n tripped over it, yelping as she started to fall backwards. Her back hit the wall behind her, though she ended up falling back again as the wall rotated, a hidden passageway. "Damn..." Y/n grunted as she got up from the floor. Dusting herself off, y/n cursed as she could barely see a thing in the dark. Noticing a couple of unlit torches lining the wall, y/n grabbed one. Taking a breath, y/n activated the Leo realm, breathing out a flame to ignite the torch.

She lifted the torch and observed her surroundings. It seemed like some type of study, though it seemed to have been forgotten and ended up becoming a bit of a storage room.
