BITTEN

chapter seven

She heaved a sigh.

The memory 'that might've came sinking into her head. Where her brother had knelt in front of the council to plead for a lighter sentence.

Flashback:

She had gone hunting with the other guards in the warrior team when she wasn't supposed to. But she had blackmailed that into letting her come with them against her brother's, the king's command. They were going to hunt for live animals for the feast her brother was planning with other members of the council from different clams all over the world. He had explained to her how important the dinner was to him and to the kingdom .But she had ignored his warnings for her not to ruin dinner that night.

The guards were ambushed on their way home form the hunt. Vampire hunters charged at them killing them in the process as they tried their utmost to keep her  from harm at the expense of her life.

By the time she returned with their ashes, she had to explain in front of all the council of the differenct clans from all over the world. She tried but noone believed her. Even though deep down she knew that they wouldn't believe a word she said.Even she knew that her reputation precceded her.Even her brother couldn't do anything to do anything.

She remembered vividly the disappointed look on her brother's face.
The council had decided to take disciplinary actions for her misconduct. She found out later that she was let out on a lighter sentence due to her brother's incessant pleas on her behalf.

Her punishment had been to induce pain by injecting her with a serum that was used to suppress their sunburn repellent  tendencies.

Flashback end....

She thought back to how much her brother had suffered for her. Them a thought struck her,

"louis, how did Helen die, it's highly unlikely for Denna to do the dirty work herself. "Her lips pursed thoughtfully.

Louis looked skeptical but he answered.

"You're right she didn't do it directly. She had instructed her maid, Eleazar to do so. Helen was found with poison in her system.A very rare kind that a mere servant couldn't get their hands on based on their jurisdiction. It must have been Mistress Denna. "He deduced.

"So this Eleazar is a.....woman right? "she asked.
Louis married his eyes suspiciously.
"yes...she is. A human looked to be in her middle thirties. She is one of the new round of help that were recently hired. "he answered.

"Okay"Zara answered slyly.She yawned loudly.
"I suddenly feel sleepy,i think I should take some rest before the ceremony which is in a few hours. You guys should take some rest as well. Maybe have something to eat. "she instructed.

And before they could stop her,she scurried back into her room leaving the three standing confused outside her door.
