Katie's POV

"Good morning Katie" my nurse smiled at me as she walked in my room. I smiled back, and looked back down at the drawing I was currently working on. It was a picture of what I saw when I looked out of the hospital window.

"How are you feeling this morning?" Nurse Rebecca asked. "A lot better actually" I moved the falling pieces of hair out of my face. This was the only time I was in the hospital for a different reason. Usually, it's because of the cancer. But earlier in the week I was really sick and we didn't know what was wrong with me, so I came here. "That's good" she grabbed her clipboard. "Im gonna be gone for about 10 minutes, if your hungry there's a few snacks on the counter" she stated and closed the door. Since I've been in the hospital for like a week, I felt a lot better now. I could walk around but not for too long.

I slowly get out of the bed, and walk over to the counter to see cut up apples in a bag, a granola bar, and a banana. I choose the banana and make my way back into the bed.

Jack G's POV

I was sitting in the car as my step mom Ann pulled up to my new school. "Why do I have to come if it's a Friday?" I asked with my elbow on the window and my hand supporting my head. "We're here just to get your schedule. You're not going until Monday. And besides, we still need to unpack the house and I need your help" Ann parked the car. "Can I at least stay in the car?" I kept my eyes looking out the window. "You don't want to see what it's like?" She put her purse over one shoulder. "Like any other school" I mumble. She opened the door and walked off. I could hear her heels clicking on the concrete even through closed doors.

Katie's POV
When nurse Rebecca came back, she told me he had great news. "We thought since you kept throwing up, something would've messed up your lungs but nothing's wrong. You are free to go home at anytime you want" she showed her perfect white teeth. I grabbed all my stuff and shoved it in my duffle bag. I wanted to get out of this place.

My mom came up to my room and carried my bag for me. "Is there anything else I need to know before we go?" She asked my nurse. "Nope everything's fine. But don't forget next weeks appointment" "okay thank you" my mom said and we left. Once I stepped outside I felt so relieved. I took a deep breathe and started walking towards our car.

"Want anything to eat?" My mom asked as she pulled out of the parking lot. "Chic-fil-A please" I put my duffle bag under my feet. We ordered some chicken nuggets and a salad.

"We have to stop by your school and give them an excuse of why you were absent all week" my mom said taking a sip of her water. "Could I stay in the car?" I asked. "Yeah I just need to stop by the office and they can tell your teachers" she stopped at a red light.

I go on my phone and see a few messages. 2 from my friend Cameron, and 1 from my other friend Mahogany. I ignored them, obviously knowing what they would say. We pull up in the school parking lot and park all the way in the front next to a black truck. My mom walks out but leaves the car running so I could have cold air. I turn on the radio and Ed Sheeran, my favorite singer, was playing.

I sang along to photograph and I look out the window to see someone in the car next to mine. He had brown hair and his piercing brown eyes were already staring at me. I smile and give a little wave, being friendly, but he looks away. I look away feeling a little embarrassed. Usually someone would smile and wave back. I let it roll of my shoulders and I plug up my phone to listen to my own music.

Jacks POV
I look at the person in the car next to me. She was distracted by her own thoughts but looked over to me. She smiles and waves, but I turn away not knowing what to do. I look back up at her, but her car was gone. I look through the rear view mirror to see her in the car, backing out of the parking spot. I look back up through the windshield and Ann is walking out the school. She gets in the car and we drive off.
