"Hah! Take that!" Jean exclaimed as she practiced her sword fighting skills by stabbing the air with a stick. It had been her dream to be a sword fighter for as long as she could remember. Suddenly as she was about to stab the air with her stick again, a tall young man appeared out of nowhere and Jean had almost stabbed him.
"Woah there, little girl watch out." He said kneeling down to her. "You almost impaled me with that stick didn't you?" The man chuckled and patted Jean's head.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to- wait! I know you!" Jean said as she suddenly realized who the man was. "You're Grand Master Varka aren't you?" She was thrilled to meet the grand master but she was also ashamed because she had almost stabbed him with her "sword". Grand Master Varka chuckled again, he looked at Jean and smiled to her surprise. She look up at him, perplexed.
"Don't worry little girl, I noticed how you were practicing earlier and decided to come and talk to you. Say, how old are you?" He asked Jean.
"I'm 7!" She yelped and stood really proudly after stating her age. The Grand Master chuckled at the young girl once more and said,
"Well, perhaps in a year you'd like to come and train as a Favonius Knight. I'm sure you'd be welcome there with those skills of yours." Jean gasped at this question and squeaked from happiness. She couldn't believe the Grand Master himself asked her to become a Favonius Knight, or at least a trainee for one.
"I'd love to, but, why do I have to wait an entire year?" Jean asked the grin fading from her face.
"Well, you can only start training once you turn eight, but I'm sure you would be alright anyways. However, it is the rules." Grand Master Varka explained. Jean sighed and nodded. She understood, but she couldn't help but think that she might already be ready to start training. "What's your name, little girl?" The Grand Master inquired. Jean lifted her chin up and said proudly,
"Jean Gunnhildr, Grand Master Varka." He smiled at her and she smiled back.
"Okay Jean, when you turn eight come by the Favonius Headquarters and say you need to speak to me. I'm afraid I must get going now, I hope to see you one day, Jean." The Grand Master said before walking off. Jean didn't say anything but she was actually extremely happy and couldn't believe what she just heard.
"Hah!" She stabbed the air once more and almost impaled someone again, a dark blue haired boy about her age this time. The boy lunged forward and fell down onto the stone.
"Hey! Watch where you're pointing that thing!" He snapped at Jean while standing up and brushing the dirt off his clothes.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to!" She quickly told him and then she heard the Grand Master's voice again.
"Kaeya! Hurry up! We need to get back to the headquarters before dark!" The blue haired boy looked up to the sound of the Grand Master's voice and Jean just noticed he wore a black eyepatch on one of his eyes. The boy was about to run away before Jean stopped him.
"Wait! Kaeya is it? Are you a Favonius trainee?" She inquired. The boy stopped and turned around to look at Jean.
"Sure am, the names Kaeya Alberich by the way." He said extending his hand to her. She shook his hand and introduced herself.
"Jean Gunnhildr. I'll be Favonius trainee in a year too! May I ask why you wear an eyepatch?"
"I inherited it from my grandfather." Kaeya said proudly, putting his hands on his hips. Jean giggled at this, as she thought it was ridiculous.
"You can't inherit eyepatches silly!" She remarked and Kaeya looked disappointed.
"Well I sure did so it seems you can." He told her before turning around. "Anyways I have to go or Grand Master Varka will be upset with me, see you around Jean."
"See you, Kaeya!" Jean yelled after him as she skipped away to tell her mother about all that just happened.
