Chapter 2

Me and Alliyah work in the stables with the horses. I have loved animals every since I can remember. This is what I love to do. I hear someone yelling my name and I turn around to see Ms. Johnson herself.

"Hey Erica can you help me with this horse he is in really bad shape." she said I take a good look at Ms. Johnson. She's about 5'11 with long brown hair and she's white. She looks so much better every since she divorced Mr. Darwin.

"Yes mam lets go." I wave bye to Alliyah and I follow Ms. Johnson to the end of the stable. When we get to the last stall I see a very bad looking black horse. The horse has track tires all over its body it can barely stand.

"What happened to her?" I ask Ms. Johnson

"Her owner said that they were riding in a field and he got off her to get something that feel" Ms. Johnson looks told me that this horse was very important "and out of no where a speeding truck came and ran over her."

"Whats her name?"

"Grace her owner is my nephew ." says Ms. Johnson " I will go get him." While Ms. Johnson is walking away I can hear her few sniffles. I'm think that this horse has been with the family for a long time. I turn around and walk inside the stall. Grace looks at me and lays on the ground groaning. I go and sit beside her rubbing her head.

"I'm going to do everything in my power to make you better." I say "I can tell you are very important to the Johnson family so I will try my best." As I'm rubbing her head I hear someone talking and I jump and gasp. I look to the entrance of the stall and see a white guy about 6'3 with brown hair. He has muscles that are just right for my dream man. He has the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen. To add to that he has on a cowboy hat with a t-shirt and jeans.

"Hi I'm sorry I'm Luke Ms. Johnson's nephew." OH MY GOSH he has a southern accent with a really deep voice. I clear my throat.

"Hi I'm Erica nice to meet you." I say

"No it's nice to meet you beautiful." I blush after he says that. If I was any lighter he would see me turning red but now I know he is a charmer that uses all the girls.

"Thank you." I look at Grace " I heard about what happened to Grace I'm so sorry."

"It's ok I just hope she gets better."

"I will do everything in my power to help her heal." I say looking straight into his eyes making sure he knows I'm serious.

"Thank you." he says. just as I'm getting up I hear a high squeaky voice say

"Luke baby where are you." A white blond hair girl comes around the corner. I don't even know why I kept my hopes up. I knew he was a player and I don't want to go through that again.

"Oh babe there you are" she walks up to him and kisses him hard " I have been looking everywhere for you in this dump." I look at her like she's crazy but I don't say anything." And who's this black bitch?" I just look at her like "bitch what did you just say".

"Babe the is my aunts employee she is going to be taking care of Grace." Luke explains to blondie

"Oh well I don't want her working with you." she says

"You don't have to worry about anything I wouldn't date anyone like her anyways." When Luke said that I just wanted to disappear. No one would want a fat black girl like me.

"Um well I'm just going to go I will get someone else on the case. Goodbye."
I feel so low. I just keep my head down I don't want to let anyone see my tears. As I'm walking I be mo into someone. I look up to see Ms. Johnson.

"Hey honey I was just... wait what's wrong?" I just shake my head.

"Um Ms. Johnson your nephew and his girlfriend doesn't want me on the case anymore can I go home if it's okay." I try and wipe my tears but they keep coming as I talk.

"Sure honey I will see you tomorrow." I see her walking to Grace's stall. I run and change back into my clothes. I make the 20 minute drive back home and lock myself in my room. I take a shower and get comfortable in bed to soon fall in a deep sleep.

~Morning
This morning I wake up earlier than usual. I do my daily routine. I go to the kitchen to see it empty. Stacey must still be sleep. That girl sleeps all the time I swear. I guess I might as well go to work early. I get my phone, purse, and keys and head out to my car. Me and maybe three other people are here. After I'm in my scrubs I make my way to Ms. Johnson's office. I knock and hear a "come in".

"Good morning Ms Johnson." I say while walking to take a seat in front of her desk in one of the chairs.

"Hi honey. How are you?"

"I'm good. Um do you have any cases for me today." I ask

" Yes honey my nephew's case of course."

"Um Ms. Johnson I thought you heard me yesterday his girlfriend and him said they didn't want me to work on the case." I say " I don't think I will feel comfortable after the hurtful words that were said yesterday." I murmur

"WHAT!" she yells " what did they say?" I look down after she says that.

"I don't think you want to know can I just get another case?"

"No now tell me what they said."

"She said that I was a black bitch and that she didn't want me working with him. He said that he would never date anyone like me anyway." I shrugged "He was right anyway."

"Honey follow me." I get up following he to Grace's stall. Inside I see Luke petting her.

"LUKE!" Ms. Johnson yells. He jumps up from his spot.

" What auntie." he says

" What did you say to this girl?" she fumes

"Kiera said that she was a black bitch and that she didn't want her working with me and I said she had nine thing to worry about because i would never date anyone like her and then your employee ran off crying." he says shrugging like it's none thing and I just look down ashamed.

"Oh my god Kiera. You will let her say something like that and you. You two should be ashamed of yourselves." says Ms. Johnson "apologize now."

"Sorry um what's your name." Luke questions

"It's Erica." I say

"Oh sorry Erica plus I don't even date Kiera anymore I broke up with her yesterday." Luke says walking away.

"Lord someone needs to tame him." Ms. Johnson murmurs
