Being the new girl at school is kinda therapeutic to Melaney,  a lot of people hate it because of the attention it brought but the attention never bothered Melaney as much. Everyone notices you for a week or so and then you're forgotten which is also not a big deal to her. Melaney moves around a lot and so she's been the new girl plenty of times the key to getting through it is to look at it as a new beginning. And Melaney has had plenty of new beginnings.

School starts Monday which is the first day of junior year which means Melaney has approximately a week to herself. She bought school supplies, a new phone, a new laptop, shoes, new clothes, and a new bicycle along with getting a nice manicure and pedicure and a completely new hairstyle. She's 100 percent prepared for the new school year.

Melaney walks up the stairs of her new home it was quiet her father has already started working which meant she was going to have the place to herself a lot. She's used to it, it doesn't bother her as much as it would bother any other child she enjoyed being alone she liked being by herself. Being able to do whatever you want whenever you want in the comfort of your own home without a father or a mother on your back was what she enjoyed the most.

Freedom.

She walks into her room and sat down at her desk on the computer chair grabbing her journal, she clicks pen and started writing.

Dear Diary,
We are officially moved in we finished yesterday. Dad started work this morning so I have the place to myself, the neighborhood is wonderful it's very quiet here the town is okay but it's not the same as mystic falls. The people here are nice, I can see myself blending in just fine, but I don't want to get too comfortable because every time I do it's time to leave. I'm surprised we stayed that long in mystic falls, I hate that I ruined my chances of staying forever. I don't see myself making any friends, or getting into any relationships because it'll only be a waste of time and social battery. This year I will stay to myself. This year will be different. I will be different, I will become a better person, a better daughter, and I promise to stay clear of the supernatural for my dad's sake and my mom's. I'm still not ready to talk about her just yet even though the guilt is eating me alive.

Melaney looks up from her journal her eyes darting to her window, in straight view she could see another room right across from hers. A boy walks into his room talking to someone who was right behind him, they looked to be around her age, and it's not the first time she's seen them. She knew by now that they were best friends and practically attached my hip since she saw the two without the other in the two weeks she's been living here.

"Do you know if they do walk-ins or should I just call and make an appointment?" she heard the guy ask "how should I know I never stepped foot in there and I don't think you should either"

"Why not?"

"Because it's permanent that's all I have to say"

"I don't know man I think I need something permanent in my life I think a tattoo will do"

"If you say so"

Melaney wonder what their names were she was able to hear them perfectly with her great hearing thanks to an old friend. But she never got their names they always referred to each other as Dude or bro and in this case man. She watches as the guy she grew to know as her neighbor pulls his shirt over his head giving her a clear view of abs, she wanted to pull her eyes away but she couldn't it was like she was drawn to him. But when her phone started to ring it caught the boy's attention they made eye contact for a split second before Melaney quickly threw herself onto the floor.

"Shit" she cursed underneath her breath trying to silence her phone she presses the decline button not caring that her best friend who she haven't spoken to in 2 weeks was calling. "Great first impression me now your neighbor thinks you're a pervert" she slowly looks sits up and looks out her window again the boy's blinds were now lowered and closed. She quickly shut her window and shut her curtains shaking from embarrassment.
