After a grueling hour of giving our statements, the police finally let us leave. Allison gave Lydia and me a ride to where my car was, Lydia refusing to walk after 'going through such a traumatic experience'.

Her words, not mine.

Allison slowed to a stop once we got to my car and as Lydia reached for the handle, Allison stopped her, putting her hand on her shoulder, "I need you to promise that you won't say anything about what just happened."

"I'll promise not to say anything about what just happened if you can tell me what the hell just happened," Lydia scoffed, extremely irritated with being kept in the dark.

I bit my lip, feeling extremely guilty because it must be so frustrating to not know what's happening. Pulling out my phone, I shot a quick text to the group chat.

LEXI – 7:13pm

are you sure i can't tell lydia about everything?

STILES – 7:14pm

NO are you crazy?!

SCOTT – 7:14pm

I'm sorry Lex, but he's right. The moment she finds out about Jackson, she'll go running to him and be putting herself in danger

I sighed knowing that they were right, shoving my phone in my back pocket as I focused on what Lydia and Allison were saying.

"-those times in class when you-you can't stop looking at the clock because you know that he's standing right out there waiting for you. Don't you remember what that's like?"

Lydia dropped her stony expression, letting out a sigh, "no."

"What do you mean, 'no'? You've had boyfriends."

"None like that."

Lydia yanked open the car door, stomping over to the passenger seat of my car and sliding in, her arms crossed.

I gave Allison an apologetic look before following after Lydia and getting into the driver's seat. Lydia and I drove in silence for a bit before I took the first step.

"I know how frustrating this must be an-"

Lydia shook her head, glancing down, failing to conceal her glassy eyes, "not frustrating. I'm more hurt than anything. I thought you trusted me. I ignored the fact that you stopped hanging out with me as much and more with Scott and Stiles and that you started lying to me because I thought that our friendship still meant something. I was wrong."

At this point, I was practically drenched in guilt as I opened and closed my mouth, not finding the words to say because I couldn't believe she was crying, "I-"

"Save it," she put her hand up to stop me before crossing her arms again and facing the window. "Obviously we're not as close as I thought we were. I guess you have Allison for that now and don't need me anymore."

They don't say that Lydia is the queen at guilt-tripping for no reason.

I hit my head on the headrest behind my head before deciding to fuck it and swerving to the side of the abandoned road, turning the key so my engine shut down.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Shush," I put my finger up to silence her, but she opened her mouth to scold me for hushing her. "If you want answers, you need to shush."

That seemed to effectively shut her up and I attempted to put my jumbled thoughts together into a coherent sentence.

"Lexi-"
