Kalani waited up that night for her Pair's return, but her position in her bed pulled her into an exhausted sleep that paid no mind to the illuminated bathroom she'd left wide open in case he came back. When she woke up that morning, he still hadn't returned.
Only Assad, Tamara, Chidi, and herself were at breakfast that morning. Kalani found her eyes slipping toward the entrance in search of him, but Not-Castiel never arrived for the day's first meal.
"You wouldn't know where Cas was, would you?" Chidi asked, dropping into the seat beside them like they were friends now. Kalani tried to soothe her burning glare when looking in the girl's direction. "Everyone heard you two arguing yesterday. You should be glad he isn't the killer or he might've killed you for what you did."
Kalani raised an eyebrow, slowly poking the chickpeas in her can with no appetite. "What was it exactly that I did?" She turned to the girl, not paying attention to the unsure expression that crossed Assad's features as he looked over at Tamara for help. He was the one that sat between both girls like a peace barrier.
"Going through his-," Chidi had barely begun.
"You ugly mud-licking toad!" Kalani shot from her seat, jumping over Assad. He quickly shouted and threw his hair into the air to catch the girl. She fell onto his shoulder and Assad wrapped his arms around her waist, quickly lifting himself off the chair. He lost his balance, but Tamara grabbed Kalani's legs in an attempt to steady the two.
Kalani, however, had already grabbed a handful of her target's hair, dragging Chidi with them. She cried out as Tamara raced around, trying to free their violent connection before the girl could be scalped.
"Back-stabbing peacock! You lickspittle... Calling you a sloth would be offensive to sloths!" Kalani dragged the screaming girl with every turn Assad made while trying to look behind him at what was unfolding.
"Let's just calm down," Tamara tried, but her attempts failed when Assad stumbled, knocking her to the ground.
"Cow child-," Kalani continued. As the fallen girl began to look up at the fighting pair, Chidi's leg crashed into her shoulder and they both tumbled to the floor. Assad cursed, trying to pull Kalani down as they fell back too. Tamara cried out when his back slammed into her leg, trapping her beneath both of their body masses.
But Kalani was still filled with energy as she crawled over the two who desperately tried to grab her. "I can't believe you'd stoop so low you... you cockalorum! Come here, I'll show you-."
"Go ahead!" Chidi shouted, standing up and taking a large step back to keep herself away from the angry girl. "Call me whatever you want. Frankly, your insults aren't as offensive as they are confusing," she hissed at Kalani. "All of you have been hating on me since we woke up in this place and, maybe I deserve it, but I'm not the only petty frog in this building!"
Kalani's nose scrunched in confusion.
"I'm getting out of here," Chidi stated. "And I'll accuse you all of being the killers because I'll probably be right at some point. I don't care if I hurt your little feelings –people are dying! I'm the only one being realistic about who we can and can't trust. Castiel is the only one in this entire building I know isn't the killer and, you know what, maybe you too," she pointed at Kalani. "You're too stupid to be a killer!"
She was stomping away before Kalani could respond, but the other girl still managed to squeeze her response in. "I could too be the killer!"
Why did you say that?
I'm not sure.
"Ow," Tamara gasped when Assad attempted to lift himself off her. Both of them quickly turned to her in worry.
