4 ~ Valentines Can Wait for the Day After

AN: **I will be using the English names for everything / Chloe, Goh, and Ash are all aged up to 15 years old**

Ash's POV:

Sigh...

Valentines Day... alone.

"I imagined this would happen, but now what better to do than go home and eat a tub of ice cream on my bed. I mean what can ya do?" I blatantly said to Chloe.

"Well... I mean I could set you up with one of my friends!" Chloe replied.

"Would that even work- Plus what if they're an idiot. Then I'm going to spend Valentine's Day stuck... WITH AN IDIOT!" I stubbornly spoke. (Maybe too harshly if I do say so myself)

"Well, would you rather go home and be depressed? I think not."

"I'm your oooonly option here. Take it or leave it!" She said while grabbing her bag and then scrolling through some messages in her Pokédex. (AN: Work with me here)

I sighed and thought it over, I meaaan... What's the worst that could happen? Chloe knows them so at least they're not some random ax murderer...

"I could try it. I guess-" I mumbled, defeated.

"Yayyy! I've got the perfect guy for you... Heh, heh!" She told me with a mischievous smile on her face.

...

Later that evening I got a call from Chloe saying that she knew exactly who to set me up with but she could only work it out for tomorrow night, the day after Valentine's Day.

I guess I could wait until tomorrow, Valentines Day evening will be just a little bit better knowing that I have a date and a plan.

Goh's POV:

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP...

I slammed my phone and it finally shut up, it was too early to get up...

I then heard Chloe's excited muffled voice through the phone.

"GOH! I found a date for you- AND HE'S HOT!" She said in a sing-songy voice.

My cheeks flushed and I grumbled groggily, "What the frick Chloe it's literally 5 in the morning..."

"I know but I couldn't tell you last night since you were already asleep! I just HAD to tell you now!" Chloe replied awake as ever.

"And how is this any better than waking me up in the middle of the night?" I asked sarcastically.

Chloe ignored my question and continued talking about this supposed date she'd scored me. It was the day after Valentine's for God's Sake! Why did she even do these things...?

After a couple of minutes, my brain started to shake off the sleep and function properly so I actually listened to what she had to say that was sooo important.

"He's one of my good friends visiting town and he loves to have Pokémon battles and he's PERFECT for you!!"

"The date's at 8, be there on time!" She quickly stated.

"Wait... WHAT?! Chloe, I have a date!? Did you set me up for this? Who even is he? Will he think I'm nice? Is he weird? What should I wear?" I said whilst freaking out.

"Don't worry, G! You stress too much about these things, it'll be fine. Plus he's really nice and I think you'll both hit it off quite well!" Chloe said supportively. 

"Okk I guess..." I replied

The sun was setting as I followed the directions Chloe sent me to the place where she set up the date.

This... was going to be awkward. I just knew it.

But I continued to walk until I arrived at an old swingset overlooking the ocean, it looked like it was taken straight out of a fairytale.

Then I saw him.

He had bluish-black hair and deep brown eyes, he hadn't noticed me and was sitting on the swing alone staring blankly out at the ocean.

It was awkward going on a date with someone I knew nothing about, but I decided to push past my doubts and I sat next to him on the adjacent swing.

"Hey-" I said softly.

"Oh- Heh, I didn't see you there, I was just looking out at the beautiful view... It is awesome don't you think? I bet there's tons of interesting Pokémon around here." He said making eye contact with me and smiling.

"Yea... I bet. Ever since I got my first Pokémon, I've always wanted to 'catch them all' as well!"

"It's more of a dream, though, than a goal!" I said while chuckling.

He started laughing alongside mine and the sounds of our laughter echoed throughout the valley below.

"I'm Ash!" He stated excitedly.

"Huh-? Oh! I'm Goh!!" I wheezed, still out of breath from laughing so hard.

"Well, Goh... It is Valentine's Day! ...Or rather, the day after... So I want to take you somewhere, follow me!" Ash said quickly then grabbed my hand and pulled me up with him.

He dragged me along for a while, while we talked until we reached a 7-Eleven stranded out in the middle of the woods.

"You... brought me here to get jumped by some sketchy dudes outback a 7-Eleven??" I asked jokingly.

"Nooo! I brought you here because this is the only place in the world you can get amazing V-day Slushies!!" Ash replied.

"Uhh... I don't wanna be rude, but... Valentine's slushies sound disgusting, not gonna lie- Like what flavor would they be? Love-" 

"Don't worry! These ones are delicious! Trust me-" He said playfully.

"U-uh ok??" I hesitantly agreed to come inside with him to share one.

He brought me over to the counter and poured a large Valentine's Special slushie for the both of us to share, then we walked over to the counter together.

Ash pulled some money out of his bag and said, "I'll pay, don't worry!"

"Wait what- No-"

"I'm the lonely one that inspired Chloe to set this all up, so I'll be a good date. Shall we?" He told me offering his hand.

I took it and he held the slushie for us both while we walked out of the store holding hands.

We walked for a while before we sat down on a log in the forest surrounding town. He handed me the slushie and I took a sip, it was actually pretty good, I thought to myself.

"You know... you're... really nice! We should exchange numbers so that we can meet up again! Just don't tell Chloe, she's never going to stop gloating about how she successfully set us up-" he said, seemingly embarrassed.

"Heh- Sure, that sounds good. I- I liked spending time with you today, you're fun and sweet, and- I uh want to hang out with you again heh..." I replied, flustered.

"Haha yeah! Of course, only if you agree to be my Valentine!" he said whilst laughing his ass off.

"Sigh, fine, as long as you stop being cheesy..." I said softly, secretly joyful because I wasn't alone on Valentine's Day, or well, the day after...!
