"Jennie?"
Jennie Kim stiffened at the sound of the familiar voice, a voice she hadn't heard in person since high school but had come across time and time again on the radio.
Slowly she felt two hands slide around her waist turning her gently as this ghost from the past pulled her into a hug.
"It's so good to see you!"
For a split second Jennie worried about lingering paparazzi, her eyes flickering to the street, before the girl pulled her in tightly pushing their bodies together. Jennie closed her eyes and took a deep breath in smelling expensive perfume and the unmistakable scent of the person underneath.
She caught herself before she fully melted into the hug, pulling back with a slight jerk.
"Hey..."

Three Weeks Earlier
If Jennie could be certain of one thing, it's that she was beautiful. People had told her for as long as she could remember that she was gorgeous, she should be a model, that one day she would break people's hearts. And by the tender age of twenty four it had all proven to be true.
"Please turn to the left a little!"
Jennie adjusted instantly to the photographers instructions. She had spent the day tilting her head and hands just so in order to show off this new high quality lipstick brand that she was modelling for in a few shoots. This particular shoot had gone on for quite a bit longer than it was supposed to and Jennie was finding the solemn faced shots easier than the smiling ones as time went by.
"Okay now can we just get a few with the other lighting setup?"
Jennie raised an eyebrow as the shoot directer called to the crew and turned her icey eyes to her manager who quickly jumped up.
"Sir, Miss Kim has somewhere she needs to be so we should be wrapping up for the day."
The director looked slightly peeved and turned to Jennie but upon seeing her famous glare smiled and cleared his throat awkwardly."
"Of course, Miss Kim you were fantastic today, all the photos, they are perfect."
Jennie tried not to roll her eyes at the blatant sucking up and bowed politely, thanking the staff as her manager ushered her out of the building. Quickly her car pulled up and they got into the backseat.
"I'm sorry that went on so long Miss Kim, I should have said something earlier."
The young woman who was her manager looked nervous and Jennie just sighed.
"It's fine, Min-young, please just take me back to my apartment."
The manager spoke quickly to the driver and they pulled out into the streets of Seoul. Before long they reached their destination, Jennie dismissing Min-young as she entered her secure apartment building.
Ready for a peaceful evening Jennie unlocked her door and stepped inside only to be greeted by rushing footsteps. Jennie barely had a second to comprehend before her best friend since childhood barrelled into her with a tight hug.
Jisoo pulled back allowing Jennie to breath and close the door.
"Jennie! Have you seen? Did you see?!"
Jennie smiled as Jisoo all but bounced up and down on the stop and shook her head.
"Seen what? I've been at a shoot all day."
"The Everett, I've been nominated for a Golden Globe."
Her jaw dropped before a huge smile came across Jennie's face as she looked into Jisoo's expectant eyes.
Over the past few years 'Kim Jisoo' had made quite a name for herself in Korean dramas and films and just over a year ago she had been approached for a role in an international film, The Everett. At first she had been hesitant but the role required she speak mostly Korean and the character was not meant to be fluent in English, besides she had plenty of translators and coaches to help her while filming and of course Jennie, her most faithful teacher, was only a call away.
"No fucking way."
Jennie couldn't help breaking into English to swear before she squealed and began to jump up and down with Jisoo.
"That's amazing Jisoo Unnie! I'm so proud of you," She pulled her friend to the living room where they both sat down, "What about the Oscars? What category is it? Are you going to America? What are you going to wear?!"
Jisoo laughed patting Jennie's shoulders.
"Calm down Jendeukie I can only answer one question at a time. Hmm... well the Oscar nominations don't come out until after the Golden Globes but my agent says it's looking promising. The category is best supporting actress. I am going to America, I don't know what I'm going to wear, but I was hoping you would come with me."
That made Jennie freeze.
"Sorry what? Go with you?"
"Yeah, you know I am recently single therefore very fragile plus I'll be lost in an english country without you."
Jennie rolled her eyes. Jisoo was never fragile and she did not need Jennie.
"Your English is way better than you give yourself credit for."
Jisoo pouted.
"And it would be fun," She pulled Jennie to rest on her shoulder, using her other hand to gesture wildly at some invisible thing in front of them, "You can be my date to all the events, we'll eat at restaurants and see all the tourist things. Please... Jennie?"
One big sigh.
"Fine," Jisoo squealed and jumped in excitement before Jennie pulled her back down, "but I'll need more details Unnie like, when is this? I have a job and contracts I mean, I can't just disappear!"
"Don't worry, I will sort everything out, it'll be perfect," she reached out to squeeze Jennie's cheeks causing the younger girl to squirm, "You'll see."
