They claim they hate Wattpad and its new features, yet they never leave.
Throughout my stay on this orange app, I have stumbled across several authors who tragically leave the community day in and day out. Heck, some of these authors even have thousands of followers, reads and whatnot. Yet, they choose to leave everything behind, delete their accounts and focus on the real world.
Some of these authors inform their followers that they're on a hiatus, only to be never heard from again. Their accounts remain inactive and would continue to remain that way until a miracle happens.
Hallelujah.
I have no grudge against authors who fall under this category. I mean, you should feel free to delete your account without owing anyone an explanation, just as much as you should be able to create one without paying a fine.
Wattpad has changed quite a lot and it would continue to change.
We all don't stay as children forever. We grow, see new changes in our body, experience new adventures, take risks and what have we. It's up to us as humans to either adjust ourselves to these new changes or seek help through therapy when we begin to feel that life is slowly becoming a burden on our shoulders.
Similarly, Wattpad as an app, a website or a community with its headquarters somewhere in the world cannot remain as a small scale business until thy kingdom come. There would be investors reaching out to the management of the app, new developed or underdeveloped features that they would try to bring to life, new rules on how awards are judged and so on.
It's up to you as a community member to adjust yourself to fit into all this. In a scenario where you can't see yourself adjusting to these new rules, nobody is forcing you to still stay active on the app and nag about it 25/8.
Millions of people delete their Facebook and Instagram accounts each day. You can do the same with your Wattpad account.
Now here's where my problem comes in.
I have a big grudge against authors or wattpadders who claim they hate the app, its new features, its ambassadors, who gets promoted and not...in short, they hate Wattpad, and how do I know this?
Simple!
They tell the whole community about it through their rants, and do you know how I always picture them in my head? I picture them as attention seekers who refuse to adjust to the new ways of Wattpad.
If you want to start a movement about how much you HATE this orange app, I suggest you start a protest in front of their headquarters in Toronto. That would easily get you noticed by one of their staff. If you're lucky, you might even meet CEO and Co-founder Allen Lau there.
Hiding behind the screen of your laptop to rant about how much the app no longer benefits you sounds a bit childish to me.
If you can't beat them, you join them.
And what's the best to do that? Again, simple!
You become a Wattpad Ambassador.
Yep, you heard me. I said it.
If you're so disgusted by how Wattpad operates now, then I suggest you join the Ambassador's program to become an Ambassador so you can complain directly to their faces or through their inbox.
That would help you get noticed faster by one of their staff.
If not, then I suggest you quit nagging and delete your account. That would save us some peace.
Not everyone is complaining like you. And not everyone sees or interpret things like you do.
Instead of writing books/rants to get people on your side on how much you hate this community. When in actual sense, you just can't stomach how well some books are doing as compared to yours, or how some books are better promoted than yours, or how your best book doesn't need coins to open further chapters, or how....let me end my words here.
We all don't love Wattpad the same way, yet some of us are silently adjusting to the new ways on this app. I bet The Wattpad we all see now isn't the same Wattpad it was in the year 2009.
If you still want to make rants about how much you hate being on this app, the best way to get your words noticed isn't through rants, so save us some peace and do it the right way.
I'm done.
Do you remember your best moment on Wattpad?
