It was dark but Y/n couldn't sleep. Too much excitement and there was so much on their mind. Octavia helped, her presence was calming.
She was warm, the jacket Y/n had laying on her as a blanket. They were cold, yes, but they felt as though their friend's warmth was far more important.

Noticing some birds pecking at the ground from a distance Y/n stood up and slowly walked over. There were three of them, and whenY/n sat down they all gawked at their still form, hesitant to go near. Y/n whispered a hello, making sure to move steadily.

The birds slowly hopped over, heads tilting to the side as they stared. Y/n smiled, and one jumped up onto their leg. It started pulling and pecking at the strings of one of their boots before Y/n pulled it away.

"Hey, no. I need those, you can't have them. I'm sorry."

Y/n inspected the ground and found a rock. Y/n moved it and there was a group of insects burrowed underneath. "You guys eat insects, right? Would these suffice?"

All the birds hopped over and started eating some of the meal they had been provided.

"Where'd you learn that?" Clarke asked, sitting beside the eighteen-year-old.

"I read a lot of books about Earth as a kid."

"I read a few as well. Though not any about birds. More about where certain animals lived and their names and species groups."

"I read a few of those."

Clarke hummed before tapping Y/n's leg. "Follow me." She stood up and whipped off her pants before holding her hand out. Y/n was still hesitantly taking it and allowed Clarke to pull them away in the opposite direction.

"Where—" Y/n began but immediately shut up at the sight of glowing mushrooms, moss, and grass.

"This is beautiful." They whispered in astonishment, a smile forming on their face when they spun around to examine them. They ran a few feet ahead, admiring the sight.

Clarke and Finn watched from a distance. To them, Y/n seemed like an excited child. Happy and carefree. It was a relaxing feeling.

They faintly heard Y/n's laughter snd when they turned around, a genuine smile on their face, they waved. Finn and Clarke smiled, Finn sticking his hand up in acknowledgment and Clarke waving back.

Finn handed Clarke a giant leaf filled with water, the blonde looking up at him.
"You went to the river?" She asked, taking it from his hands.

"Yeah, I did. Take a sip." She tilted it up, drinking a little privacy the water. "You call that a sip?"

Clarke smiled and took a big sip from the leaf, relaxing at the feeling of water. It was silent and calm A break from all the stress and chaos the day had caused.

"How did the two of you meet?" Clarke asked, turning to Finn.

Finn looked at her with furrowed brows, "What do you mean?"

"I'm not stupid," She turned to look back at Y/n, who was still admiring the forest. "It's obvious you two have known each other prior to coming down. So how did you two meet?"

Finn was silent as he watched Y/n. He wasn't sure he should tell Clarke how they met. Not without Y/n's consent to do so.
"I can't tell you that. Not because I don't want to but because it wouldn't be right for me to tell you." He explained. Turning towards Clarke again, he smiled. "Wait right here."

He got up from the log and jogged over towards Y/n, noticing the moth on their hand.
"You have a way with animals," He stated. "Clarke told me about the birds."
