I don't know what compelled me to write this, but here is a vampire dabihawks au :) It'll be pretty short but I might write something similar to it later if inspiration strikes.

Leave a comment to let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy!

There weren't many of us left. Even more so, there weren't many new ones of us left. But him? The moment I saw him I knew he was not only the same as me, but a new one. And yet, the power that radiated off his skin was comparable to the one that I held inside of me.

Raw power of speed and strength. A sense of smell and sight, hearing and touch way beyond what any human could imagine. What any human could only dream to have.

He must have been made a special one because I knew he could sense me in the room. His eyes flickered around the room, searching. Sensing someone else of his kind.

Maybe if he was older he would have found me immediately, but this power was new. Its stench was thick with roses on the verge of blooming. The scent of something new fresh.

That was how I determined good food, anyway.

He was blonde, hair shiny and pushed back so that there was no definite sides. Not slicked back, thank gods, that stereotype was left behind centuries ago.

Perhaps he was only a century old. He wasn't a child not by a long shot.

There was a fine difference between the young ones of my kind and the young of humans. New, by any means, was one hundred to three hundred years old. I, myself, had just passed four-hundred and fifty.

Not that birthdays meant as much anymore, but I kept track if only for the validity of stating my age. Again, not that anyone was asking because there weren't too many of us left.

I returned my gaze to the man, blonde hair. My eyes zoomed in on his face (not literally but in a sense that his features were highlighted), I scanned him.

Sharp jawline that paired well with sharp cheekbones. Eyes so pale they were almost golden. Perhaps they were. I knew he must feel my eyes on him, but the shadows hid me well.

They would hide me until I let them go darkness and light, well, they always did my bidding. If he could find me- maybe I'd tell him my name.

He was tall, like all of us were, but even from my position it was clear he was a bit shorter than me. Maybe an inch or two could he be slouching? Unlikely, I decided, becoming one of us came with a sort of confidence.

We held ourselves high and to standards that humans could not hope to achieve. Many of us were strong and built with muscle not simply by existence but because we can. We could have eons to be everything that we could possibly want to be.

But I had to yet to find anything that intrigued me again. Not until I found him. There came a boredom with immortality but ever bit of it that I had dissipated with his existence. The moment he walked into the room I could see it. Feel it.

That growing ache in my body that desired him. The pulse in my mouth to bite down on his neck and taste what sweet blood flows through his veins.

Gods, I could almost taste it.

Come find me, I put out into the air, letting the message hang there, waiting for him to pick it up.

It took a moment and the briefest look of confusion on his face before the message was grabbed. The pull in my mind, tethered us together momentarily before it was fully received.

A moment later there was a heaviness in the air and the small energy particles condensed into a gray cloud that only I could see.

I pulled it towards me and let it soak into my skin.
