Chapter 3~ Maybe he's not so bad..

***Cody's POV***

I was talking to Jake when someone bumped into me knocking my binder out of my hand.

"Hey! Watch it!" I said rather harshly. I turned to see some girl.

"Oh I-I'm so sorry.. Um here.." She replied handing me the binder she had recently knocked out my hand.

I gave her a small smile. Now that I know it was an accident I kind of regret having such a harsh tone. Plus I think she's kinda cute I hope I didn't seem like a complete jack ass, but it wasn't too late to save my self... But she did seem kinda familiar.

"Thanks.. Hey you look familiar?" I said in a nice tone showing that I wasn't a jackass.

She was just about to say something when Mrs. Ross interrupted her.

God I hated that lady, I loved music but she was terrible. All she did was talk, we never got any learning done because most of us would zone out after 5 minutes anyways..

"ALRIGHT CLASS PLEASE TAKE YOUR SEATS"

I sat down and so did everyone else except for the girl I was just talking to. She just stood there, like a lost dog. She looked at Mrs. Ross seeking help with her eyes.

"Oh Shae, hmm let see you can sit next to Cody." She said pointing at the empty desk next to mine.

Ohhhh it all made sense now. That's why she looked familiar, she's the new girl on my bus this morning! The One that had already bumped into me earlier today. Well now that that mystery's solved there's something else that wasn't right. I had butterflies.., but why?

I rarely got butterflies when it came to girls. As a matter of fact the last time I got butterflies was years ago. So why was I getting them now when a girl I barely knew got assigned to sit next to me. What is this the 3rd grade? Anyways I got over it and tried to hide my butterflies looking over I offered her a smile.

*** Shae's POV ***

I looked over to see Cody smiling at me. I smiled back and looked away before things got awkward. Ok Shae just pretend he's not there.. I dont know why but it was awkward sitting next to cody, and I didnt want to make it any more awkward than it already was so I just ignored him the whole class and paid attention to the teacher.

"Ok class, now that we're nearing the end of class i have something to tell you all. We are going to have a big assignment worth 25% of your grade! The assignment is that you will have to write a song consisting of 2 instraments a lead and back up vocal and 3 verses along with a corus. Now before you start complaining let me explain what it is. The project will be done with ONE partner that I will assign. The list is on the board and you may go look as soon as I am done talking. Which is.... NOW"

Right on que the whole class got up and rushed to the board. I sat and waited a little for the crowd to die down.

I went up to the list after a couple minutes. It was a piece of paper held to the white board with a magnet. Down the paper was a list of names and a second column of names right next to the first one which must be the partners. I scanned the list for my name.

ABBY - JAKE

TAYLOR - VICTOR

RYAN - JESSICA

JONNY - TOMMY

AMANDA- JOSH

CAMPBELL - TALIA

SABRINA - CARMINE

SELENA - TYLER

SHAE - CODY

RAY- JORDAN

MADDIE - BRANDON

ARIANA- MAX

I scanned down and saw my name. It took me a minute to realize that my partner had been Cody. I didn't really know how to react so I just went back and sat down.

Then I saw Cody, I didn't bother telling him that he was my partner. He went up to the list and did the same thing scanning down the list to see who his partner was then he stopped. He looked up and smiled and started walking towards me. He finally got to his desk an sat down facing me in his seat. He was about to say something when Mrs. Ross interrupted us again. I was so thankful at her perfect timing.

"Alright I'll give you the rest of class to talk to your partner about your song.You have about 15 mins."

I looked over at Cody who was already facing me.

"Hey, so i guess we're partners." he said with a smile

I nodded not really knowing what to say.

"Ok then...well while Mrs. Ross was talking, I came up with some ideas" he said again trying to spark conversation

I dont know why but i felt like giving him a hard time so I just looked at him waiting for him to continue.

"So um yeah.. I was thinking we could use guitar? Since i play the guitar.. do you play anything?"

Damn now I had to reply..

"Yeah mainly piano, but I play guitar too."

"Oh well thats good I guess those are instruments we're gonna play in the song" he said smiling again

I don't feel like giving him a hard time anymore since it was starting to get awkward, but I must admit he was cute trying to hide the awkwardness.

"Yeah sounds good, do you sing?" I asked

Cody looked up shocked that I actually asked him something and participated in the conversation.

"Oh so you do talk!" he joked

I couldn't help but to laugh.

"Yeah I do, I can do other things too like walk and eat and drink and sleep!" I joked back hoping not to sound too corny

"That's amazing! I wish I knew how to do all those things!" he joked back

Maybe Cody wasn't so bad after all..

"Oh yeah and to answer your question, yes I do sing, do you?

"Yeah I'm not that good though." I said turning away shyly

"Psssshhh, I'm sure your a great singer, but if it makes you feel more comfortable you can sing back round?"

"Sounds good" I replied with a smile

"Hey your new here right why don't we meet up at the beach tomorrow after school? I can show you around too" Cody asked it seemed as if he was second thinking that last part.

"No." I said sternly

"Wha- why not?" he asked slightly hurt

"I was just kidding!" I giggled

"I would love too" I said with a smile

"Okay meet me at the peer at 3 after school"

And with that the bell rang and everyone dispersed into the hallway..
