Victoria Peak
Myles reclined his long lean frame on the blanket they’d brought from the ship while Cat scanned the horizon with the telescope they stowed inside the picnic basket Phillippe prepared earlier in the morning for them to take along with them. It was now in the late afternoon, soon they would be returning to the ship.
“It looks as if they change the guards at the compound every four hours,” she told him and Myles made note of it in a journal she brought with them to record any of the sights or thoughts on the compound she didn’t want to forget later on.
Myles saw the dark circles under Cat’s eyes, showing how little sleep she had in the past few nights. Last night was no exception since he kept her up for hours with their wild mating. That thought made him hard once again wondering if he dared to make love to her here and now. He knew after last night he would never let her go and once this mission of hers was over with, he would inform her of that very fact.
She was his.
She would always be his. Cat just didn’t know it yet.
They would have the time they needed to sort out their relationship later after her uncle was found and they were on their return voyage to England.
He noticed she ate very little of her breakfast and none of the food Philippe had made for their lunch on the peak, which was delicious.
“Come eat something, Cat,” Myles said for the third or fourth time to her. “You need substance to keep your strength up until we rescue Trey.”
Cat returned to the blanket and laid the telescope near the basket. She accepted the plate from Myles which contained a bun with thin slices of ham in between, slices of cheese, an array of fruits and a lemon tart; he then poured her a glass of wine. “I think the only way to gain entrance is either to scale the walls or use dynamite to make several entries for us to enter and exit through quickly. The use of dynamite, would of course, alert them of our coming,” she said then took a bite of her bun and chewed slowly as she let her mind relax so she could focus on thoughts of how to rescue her uncle and not the handsome husband spread out on the blanket before her.
“I can acquire the dynamite, if need be,” Myles replied then took a swallow from his own wine glass. He enjoyed watching the reaction to his statement on her lovely face.
“Can you?” she asked surprised.
“I can,” he answered but didn’t tell her where, which he knew would irritate her, just a little.
Cat cocked her head to one side waiting for Myles to explain where or how but he just smiled his devilish smile and remained silent wanting her to ask him.
“Where?” she finally gave in and asked.
“Through a…business acquaintance here in Hong Kong,” he drawled then took the telescope lying near her and rose to stretch his legs. He scanned the compound for several minutes while Cat remained quiet as she munched on her lunch thinking of ideas on how to rescue her uncle.
“If we could create some sort of loud diversion in the front that would cover the explosions made by the dynamite along the back wall, we could enter before they knew what we were about,” Cat mused and took another bite from her plate of fruit.
“Have you by chance noticed what the building on the left side at the front has stored in it?” Myles asked her taking the telescope from his eye to look at his wife. The first time he looked at the compound through the telescope he noticed the kegs sitting just inside the large overhang of a building.
