Part one: Yellow finch

"Armin!"
Armin, who was looking intensely at the school window he was staring at from his seat, jumped a little and turned to his friend, "What's up Eren?"
There was an empty desk that was in front of Armin "Dude, I almost forgot to give you back your reference sheet." Eren sat on the chair of that desk and lifted a blue paper, "Here. Once again thank you."
Armin quickly glances at the window, and then smiled at eren. "Yeah, no problem," He took the paper and placed it on his desk.
"When's the next state test?"
"Uh, May 6."
"Man, finally! After this test I gonna stop caring about classwork. I cannot believe it, in 3 years we will be taking the SATs..."
Armin tried his best to maintain eye contact, and listen to his friend, but something outside was calling his attention.
It was bugging Armin, he needed just one look.
"I sometimes ask myself what do I truly want, you know?"
"Mm Hm," Armin nodded, and his eyes quickly darted to the window and then back.
"So should I?"
"Oh yeah! Totally." No, he needed just one look. He still maintains eye contact with Eren, but in the corner of his eyes he was keeping that something on lock down.

One more peak, that's all he needs.

"Yeah, I should! I'ma start well rounding myself! So what's your plan Armin?" Eren looked at his friend and saw him staring at the window.
"Yo Armin?"
Fuck, lets pray he didnt realize.
"Yeah?"
"What are you gonna do?"
"On what?"
"Were you even listening?"
"....Yeah?"
"Nooo you weren't! I saw you peeking at the window! What gives?" Eren stretched his neck a bit to peek at the window. What was so fascinating that caught Armin's attention?

Nothing. There was nothing different about the scenery. Same grassy areas and trees, with a concrete pathway in the middle. The three long benches that were 7 meters away from the building were empty too.
Puzzled, Eren faced Armin who was now fidgeting nervously with a pen, "What were you looking at?" Armin, now suddenly confused, whipped his head to the side and saw it gone. He formed a small frown upon seeing it was no longer around. "Was it a bird or something?" Eren asked.
"Yeah, it was this yellow bird. It was super close to the window and I was trying really hard to get a peek of it. That explains why I wasn't really paying attention. I was intending to slowly grab my phone to snap a quick picture when I felt the timing was right."
Liar.
"For what reason do you need the bird?"
"Art project."
Eren was dumbfounded, "But you told me last week you guys were doing a self portrait."
Oo! He got you there!
"I don't think it would take one week for a self portrait to be completed," Eren added.
"Well, Mr.Luis wanted us to add some symbolic message in the portrait."
"What does the yellow bird symbolize?"
"Joy and a positive outlook on life."

Turns out there was something interesting that Armin was staring at. That if Eren caught a glimpse on time, he would've teased the hell out of him.
Y/n was sitting on one of the benches that was in front of the window Armin was staring at.
When the clock struck 11:45, it was time for their lunch period. The Dean gave the students of that hour permission to go outside after they finished eating. Y/n along with 20 other students walked out from the cafeteria.

The school was pretty big itself for a school in NYC. The front and back yards were about 2 acres of land. Y/n often wondered how they got into such a big middle school.

Anyway, it was a sunny day. Fifty five degrees outside is a blessing since the weather in NYC can be unpredictable. Most kids usually stay at the front of the school, due to their being more shade at the front.

Y/n would've been at the front with the others if it wasn't for her friend, who was the only one out for her 6 friends who had the same lunch period as her, being absent that day. She was too embarrassed to walk around by herself, she didn't want people to think she was a loner. So she decided to go to the side of the building and head to one of the benches that were placed.

20 minutes into the period, she passed the time reading a book titled Concrete Roses that her English teacher assigned her class to read. Finally, a good book was given. It was a calming moment, just her minding her business, not noticing she became the business of a particular blondie.

Even though she had a class with Armin, she never noticed his presence (Not that she even cared anyway), and only talked to people she knew. She didn't bother getting to know her surroundings in her classes as well. All she cared about was to get her classes over with.

When she finished the assigned chapter, y/n got up from the bench and began heading back to the front yard of the school.

As usual, her mind swarmed with random thoughts as a way to shield herself from the feeling of being alone.

Gosh, 3 more periods and I get to go home.

Fuck. I forgot that I was having a living environment quiz... and it's last period...

Whatever, I'm gonna fail anyway.

5 minutes and lunch is over.

I could hop the fence and leave, I have my book bag on me-

"Whoa? She likes me!?"

Y/n halted in her place before turning the corner and backed up a bit. She recognized that voice too well.

"I know! That was my reaction!"
"Nahhh bro she's so-"
"How do you feel?"

She didn't hear a response from her crush, she just stood there, her pausing her breath and her heart slowly accelerating. Just anxiously thinking: how the fuck... how did he find out?

"Well when her friend told me-"

What!? Which friend? Holy shit, my heart is hurting.

"I was like Whoa!? Your fucking joking right!?"
His friends let out a fit of snickers.

She wanted to leave, she really did, but she couldn't help but continue on hearing such rude remarks.

"Well!? What did you think!?" One of his friends ask him eagerly.

"What do I think? Well she's ugly as fuck that's for sure."

Damn...

"Plus she's fucken weird. She just stares at shit and daydreams out like a fucken dumbass."

Okay... we get it. You don't like me.

"Don't get me started on her annoying ass voice. And her fucken laugh. Oh god...

Jesus shut him up! He's getting annoying.

"She's just fucken mediocre trash."

"Kids it's 12:15! Head to your classes now." The Dean announced from his megaphone.

"Man, if a girl like that liked me. You would never catch me around her. So humiliating," was the last thing y/n heard from the group of boys, as they walked back inside the school.

Aw...awesome. I have a class with him. Just when I thought 8th period couldn't get... any... fucken worst.
Fuck you.
Thank god I never confessed to him. In all honesty, this was worse then a confession.
At least I didn't get told those things in my face.

The next hours were agonizing for y/n. After school, she decided to walk 30 blocks home alone to avoid that bastard of a kid who took the same train as her.

Just know that as soon as she collapsed on her bed, a self hating journey aroused.
