A broken promise resulted in many unresolved issues for you. One main thing is your trust issue.

You never really trusted anyone except for one person, the trust that they decided to wipe out. The one that they earned so badly but chose to abandon with a snap.

She promised.

She promised she'll never break your trust because she knew how hard it is for you to give that to anyone, but, as they say, 'Promises are meant to be broken.'

That's what leads you to your position right now.

A successful businesswoman that operates one of the most famous companies in the entire country, William's Tech Company and Corporation.

That past incident gave you a boost to stand up on your own and to learn that you don't need anyone but yourself. Besides, in your whole life, you're all alone. From the fact that your parents dumped you when you were a teenager up to the time when you found yourself being left by everyone, you promised yourself you'd never let anyone in anymore.

You're too tired of doing that.

You, also known as Miss Y/n Williams, are well-known for being a closed-off person. You're the type of boss that would just look at them then they'll know what you wanted. Everything that happened in Seattle two years ago was the reason behind your built-up strong personality. You just don't let anyone break your walls after what you've been through.

"Miss, someone on the ground floor keeps begging for us to send them in here." A person spoke softly which made your gaze from the laptop screen leave to look who's the voice belonged.

It's from Janine.

She's your devoted secretary, the only one who can withstand your attitude. She witnessed all those nights when you drowned yourself with paperwork all those years prior. Since then, she constantly checks up on you which you are grateful for. Little did you know, she has this lingering crush on you but you're too oblivious to notice the persistent flirting she does outside the office hours because you're too concentrated on your business.

"Who?" You questioned shortly, determined to finalize the paperwork before your meeting in an hour comes up. "And, did Mr. Sefrica approve our business proposal?"

"Coda scanned her, she goes by the name Natasha Romanoff." She informed while browsing the email that was sent by Mr. Sefrica's assistant before grinning widely, "Mr. Sefrica's secretary declared that you two should meet tomorrow for the contract signing. Well, congrats for that, Miss!" (Coda's like FRIDAY)

Mr. Sefrica's a huge client to you and your company, so this should be celebrated with your employees. You beamed widely, about to clap your hands in triumphant but then you recalled the first phrase that left her mouth, you frantically shook your head as you sternly worded, "Mark that woman banned from this company."

"Is that all, Miss?"

"Yeah, thanks, J." You winked, continuing your little festivity with Mr. Sefrica's approval. "And, Janine? Tell your co-workers we'll have a tiny celebration at my bar house tonight, 8 PM."

"Sure." Janine gleamed with a blush that didn't go unnoticed by you which made you smirk to yourself more.

~ Timeskip ~

Wild music blasted as you reached the venue. Wearing a short black silky smooth dress that stops on your mid-thigh, topped with a navy blue blazer, matching with some jewelry, and to finish the look, a pair of white ankle strap heels.

You breathed deeply before joining the crowd that's already relishing themselves with different kinds of liquors here and there. Janine approached you when your gaze both met.
