Shaurvari's pov
I looked at the guy standing before me who once used to be my serenity, the one I onced called my bestfriend is now having an agreement with me to save my people, the people living in my kingdom, who believe that the royals would safeguard them inevitably.
"What's the price?" I asked looking at him in the eyes. The eyes I adored long ago, the eyes that held warmth and love are cold barely showing any ounce of warmth or even humanity.
His lips curved up in a smirk while he eyed me up and down not in a decent way.
"You, you are the price my princess"
His smirk converted into a grin as he stared at my face while I registered his words.
"What do you mean by that?" He licked his bottom lip which was a shade of rouge pink ever so slightly, I tried not to focus on the sight.
"I mean, little princess of mine, that to save your subjects from this spreading pestilence, which could be done only by the medicine prepared in our kingdom, you have to marry me, be mine princess and I'll make sure your kingdom is safe and secured"
He completed with a smirk plastered on his face, I looked at his face with the hint of abomination on my face.
How could he do this? Doesn't he care about innocent people?
"Why do you want to marry me?" I asked the only question that made sense to me. Why suddenly the prince and to be king of Raudragarh wants to marry me?
"What's your answer princess, will you marry me to save your kingdom?"
He ignored my question, how dare he? No one has ever disrespected me in that way.
Asking someone a certain thing and when the person pretend that the other party never asked anything is really humiliating.
"I asked you something-
"Which I don't find important to answer princess, just tell me if you're ready to marry me or not?"
I looked at him expecting him to burst out into fits of laughter like he used to do but it never happened instead he was staring at me dead in the eye.
The flash of the boy and his mother wailing before me came into my head and I couldn't stop the words that came out of my tongue, neither did I want to.
"I'm ready to marry you" I declared staring at his emotionless eyes which now had a hint of satisfaction, I tried finding my old friend, the one who couldn't see me in any kind of misery but there was no trace of him.
The man standing ahead of me was a complete different person, the prince of Raudragarh, Akshraj Agnivanshi.
"You made a really smart choice my princess, see you soon" His face had a dark look which was successful in scaring me a little but I didn't show it.
Showing him that I'm intimidated by him would only boast his ego and crush my pride which I don't want at all.
He moved his feet towards me and finally stopped when there was barely some space between us.
I didn't back away, my pride didn't let me to, backing away would mean I'm intimidated by his presence, which I really am but he doesn't have to know that.
He placed his hands on my waist and pulled me slightly close to him.
I gasped when I felt his cold hands on my skin, his touch was different, his hands were cold but still so warm.
There was some other feeling that I couldn't comprehend.
He sniffed my neck for a while and pulled away, surveying my face, or so I thought, with his light grey orbs he walked towards the door.
"See you soon Shaurvi" he took my nickname after years, the way he said it, sadness lacing his tone, we have been friends long enough for me to decipher when he is sad or happy.
But this time when he spoke there was something else with the sadness in his tone which I can't detect.
But what I'm more confused about is why Akshraj asked me for marriage when he could have demanded anything for the medicine?
After he came from his training he has changed. He is not the Aksh I knew he is Akshraj Agnivanshi, the prince and to be king of Raudragarh.
Who happens to help Veergarh just for his own profit.
People change with time and some changes are detrimental.Me and Akshraj used to be bestfriends when we were younger and then the time came when he had to go for his training to be a good king, king of Raudragarh.
The day was not at all easy the 16 year old me cried a lot letting her bestfriend go away. And when he came back after 9 years he was changed, a complete new person whom I didn't know.
That person was a stranger to me not the Aksh I knew.Everything is a delusion nothing is true Shaurvari.
And now that stranger has intentions of marrying me and knowing the Prince Akshraj he gets what he wants, it doesn't take much time for him to change his intentions to reality.
