Rose Tinted Heartache

Thorny vines constrict my heart
Soft white petals stick in my throat
A sweet scent permeates the room
As a rose slips out of my mouth

A white rose
Pure, innocent, gorgeous
Just like you
Exactly like you

Day after day
The roses fill my room
You say “How beautiful!”
Oh I wish that that was true

My shirts are stained with blood
My lungs ache when I breathe
My heart hurts for you
My head spins with the pain

I can’t eat anymore
The roses grow too fast
I can’t breathe
The flowers give no mercy

Still I smile when I see you
Do anything to make you laugh
Your happiness matters to me
Maybe a little too much

My body shakes with each breath
My coughs bring forth a garden
I choke with each gasp
My world is ending

I wouldn’t make it any different
Your smile makes it all worth it
I could never rid myself of these flowers
Especially if it meant forgetting you
