Blue heard his chains rattling as he woke up. He sits up, stretches, and yawns. He sat up in his room as he waited for his master to come back for him. Ever since he'd been captured, he had never been happier. Sure, he was imprisoned and technically a slave, but he didn't mind.
His master was very kind and didn't let him go hungry or be in pain. He treated him so gently, he fed him, he bathed him, he gave him the most warm bed he'd ever slept in. You see, Blue had been an enemy soldier A year ago.
Since he was A child, he never had any parents. It never bothered him, but his older brother seemed to despise it. He started getting drunk and would beat Blue every night. When Blue was just 15, he joined the army to get away. He got more abuse when he was there, the other boys would harass him for being smaller and sometimes even take his food and get him in trouble if he tries to fight back. Blue resigned himself to be content with it. He was going to die in a battle fighting for A queen he didn't even care about. Then, his life changed. On the battlefield, he had been taken down by an eyeless soldier. He told the soldier he'd give him any information he wanted if he just let him live. The blind soldier had then dragged him through the grass and thrown him at his leader's feet. Which just so happened to be his new Master.
King Nightmare took excellent care of Blue in every way. Blue believed it was Nightmare's way of gaining his trust to use him, but things changed now. Obviously he didn't trust Nightmare at first and Nightmare didn't trust him either, but over the past year they got to know each other and fell in love.
He understood why Nightmare had to keep him as A slave and not A lover. Can you imagine the uproar from his newly claimed kingdom if the king was sleeping with A soldier who used to be an enemy? Nightmare had been planning on getting engaged to Blue despite that, but if they were openly together even if the civilians were ok with it then Blue would be A target for assassins by people who weren't ok with it. At the end of their discussion about marriage, they decided to make big decisions later. As Blue sits there thinking, he suddenly becomes aware of the door opening.
"Hello, Bluey." Nightmare says as he steps into the room. Blue smiles up at his Master.
"Hi, Master!" He says happily. Nightmare smiles at him too, and walks over. He sets the plate of food he is holding on Blue's lap.
"Eat up, Baby Blue. Today is A big day." Nightmare says. Blue nods and begins eating.
"Do you mind if I ask what's happening today, Master?" Blue asked, taking another bite of food right afterwards. Nightmare sits next to him.
"Of course not, my Beloved. Today you are going to leave your room." Nightmare said. Blue's eyes spread wide. That was already A rarity. "We are gonna hang out around the castle, and then later tonight I have A meeting with several other leaders in the surrounding areas. They are bringing their A couple slaves or their guards and so I thought I should too."
"Really?! Oh thank you, Master!" Blue said. Nightmare smiled brightly at his lover's excitement and patted his head, playing with his hair.
"No problem, Bluey. Anything to make you happy." Nightmare said. Then Blue keeps eating.
His Master sits against the headboard next to him, putting on his reading glasses and taking his book from his coat pocket. He opens the book and starts reading, arm around Blue's neck. Blue can feel that this is gonna be A good day.

When Blue was done with his food, his master unlocked his metal collar and put on the navy blue collar. It was A special design that signaled that the person was a slave. Nightmare hated it, but if they wanted to keep their relationship A secret then it was necessary. Also, Blue insisted he didn't mind.
