Blue ran through the crowded streets of his hometown. It was A small Oceanside town but always bustling with life. This was where Blue was born, but now, he desperately needs to leave. He could hear them shouting behind him.He could practically feel the rope arope his neck, the chains around his wrists, the cold grip of death. He couldn't let that happen, where could he go? What could he do? He was dead, he was a dead monster walking. Glancing to his side, he sees a ship with it's ramp down with the words 'The Ghost of Layla Shrivantii'. Stoyingway on a ship was wrong, but that wasn't his plan. He'd hide on board just until he knows it's safe and then leave.
Rushing on board, he opens one of the barrels and hops in. Thank every god from every pantheon no one was on board to catch him, but he wasn't out of the woods yet. He closed the lid and tried to hold his breath. He needed oxygen desperately, his body tried to force him to take in deep loud breaths but he refused. Even as the tight pressure in his lungs builds, he forces himself to breathe slowly and quietly. As he listens for any sound of his pursuers, Blue becomes aware of shouting from just outside the ship.
"Cross, watch out!"
"Ah!"
"Look what I got here? Some dirty pirate scum? You probably know where he is, hmmm? Tell me or he loses his life."
"Know where who is?! Leave him the hell alone!"
Blue had to help. He knew it wasn't right for someone, even a pirate, to die for his actions. He carefully gets out of the barrel and looks over board. He sees a group of pirates looking irate as another one of them is being held at knifepoint by the head sheriff. "Hey! Up here!" Blue shouted.
The sheriff looked up at him and moved his knife away from the pirate's throat, not a lot but enough. Blue jumps from the ship's deck. It was A huge ship and it made time slow, Blue's heart stopped, but only for A second. Then he slams into the sheriff and his head whacks against the ground and he is out cold. Blue quickly gets up and back off the sleeping body. Or at least, Blue hoped he was just sleeping.
"Hey, are you ok?" Blue asked, holding his hand out to the pirate who had also been knocked over. The pirate takes his hand and Blue pulls him to his feet.
"Yeah... thanks." Cross said. That's when Blue noticed the crowd around them.
He heard them saying things like 'dirty pirates' and mumbling to each other in panicked voices. Then Blue hears the other guards that were chasing him shouting.
"Go, go, go, on the ship!" Shouted another pirate.
"Wait, me too? Ah!" Blue shouts, being dragged off his feet by A bigger pirate and brought onto the ship.
He heard what Blue presumed was the captain shouting orders Blue didn't understand. 'Am I really getting kidnapped by pirates? Well, it's better than the gallows I guess.' He thought.
Blue looked around for A way to help them, but they were already taking off. One of the Pirates stood on the back of the ship and flipped the town off as they retreated farther into the sea.
It was about 20 minutes later that they sat Blue down to ask him questions. He noticed the one he saved in the tight hold of another pirate who looked very protective over the smaller one.
"So... why the hell were they after you?" The captain asked. Blue sighs.
"I... I worked for the jail in the town. I wanted to help people, protect the innocent! But the way they ran things... It was cruel. The last straw was when they were going to execute A little girl just for being affiliated with pirates. She was barely 15, I had to help her! So I opened her cell and let her leave. That's why they were chasing me." Blue said.
