"Another practice that went well." I gave the band a smile, maybe just maybe we'd have a shot at winning.
"Your positivity helps us to keep going." The singer smiled back.
The guitarist nodded. "Umm we should probably go back up to our dorms and pack." He suggested. "We leave this afternoon."
"We didn't get much notice, but yeah." The drummer went up to the dorm.
I went back to mine, and hauled out my suitcase. "Enough clothes for a couple weeks, trunks, toothbrush, shampoo, boxers..." I put in everything, then scurried back to the recording room to get the soundboard and my bass. "And I'm one hundred percent ready." I went to meet everyone else in the parking lot.
"Oh look the taxi is here on time." Remarked Alfie, putting his stuff in the the trunk.
"Shotgun." Called Taylor.
"Toronto Pearson International Airport please." I told the cabbie. The driver nodded and it wasn't long before we got there.
Once we got our tickets and checked in, we headed towards security, of course one of the guards gave me a suspicious look, cams we were all clear.
"Now to find gate 41F." Said Noelle, matter of factly.
"Got it." Taylor called and we followed her.
My team and I sat, waiting for out flight number to be called. The four of us were getting a lot of confused looks; but hey we're a couple university kids waiting at a gate with our suitcases, carry ons and instrument cases, so it's not something that's seen everyday.
"Ugh I'm bored." I took my blue and white fender bass out of her case, and began strumming the cords to The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy, the British boy took out his electric and played as well.
"You are a brick tied to me that's dragging me down, strike a match and I'll burn you to the ground we are the jack o lanterns in July setting fire to the sky here it comes the rising tide so come on." The Jewish girl paused for a moment. "Put on your war paint."
Noelle, Alfie and I had just finished the song, the woman at the desk called our flight.
"We're soon going!" The black girl said excitedly.
Once we boarded the plane, I took my seat with Alfie, while Noelle and Taylor sat behind us.
"Attention passengers, this is Pilot Jenko speaking. The flight will last about two hours and thirty minutes, and we should arrive in Orlando at 1:30pm local time." Said the voice over the speakers. Once the flight attendant finished the safety demonstration, the airplane took off.
"Crap I already think I'm going to be airsick." The singer groaned. "Anyone got a gravol? And anyone got extra uh bags." She asked.
I passed her back a pill. "Here."
"Omar you're a lifesaver." Noelle smiled.
"Ya better not throw up on me." Taylor added.
Two hours into our flight, the plane to descend.
"We're almost there." Alfie said excitedly.
I looked out the window, airplanes have always amazed me, the way they could a huge hunk of metal can land so gracefully on the ground.
Once we arrived, we got out luggage and and took a taxi to the hotel.
"Woahhhhhhh." I said with amazement as I looked around. "This place is nuts." "
" Better than that run down bread and breakfast i stayed at when my mom and dad would fight." The drummer chuckled a little.
"I don't wanna check us in." I put my hands over my face. "I'm too shy."
"I'll do it." The singer went up to the desk. "Allo, I'm Noelle Penney, my Different Dance bandmates and I are here for Playlist?"
"We just flew in from Toronto." The guitarist added.
The lady nodded and gave her key cards.
"Thanks." I smiled. "Let's go."
