Aaria -
I had never imagined living and staying in NY city with my beloved people, my girls. It's been a while since we landed and we had been waiting for Jenny, our friend who shifted here two years ago for schooling with her parents. Her father got a transfer order and they came here to settle. We missed her way too much. Today I had come along with two of my other friends - Stacey and Julia. We all got into the school where Jenny had been going , with the help of her father. Our parents were good friends, too. They sent us here on his responsibility (not exactly), this is what we had told them. I know it was cruel but we needed to get of there. We wanted to go out, be adventurous, and have fun, build our future. All my friends were passionate about their life, living every moment, smart and confident. And this was the only way possible. At least we thought that. We rented an apartment close to Jenny's house, it was a bit expensive but we paid for it from our pockets by working extra.
Coming back to the present, I am with my luggage and my friends are doing the same. I am struggling with a book in my hand , my luggage and a Starbucks in another . I always had a book with me, even if it was in a digital form. Yes,I am extremely fond of reading. I am not a bookworm. But I think of myself more as a confident nerd. We were greeted there by my friend, Jenny and her parents. Jenny grew taller, more beautiful and she stood there smiling. Oh God, how much we missed her! All four of us did a group hug, squeezing our lives out. It was an emotional moment. We went back to the apartment. Jenny had come to help us settle. We went in, did a house tour, took our rooms and I got myself the coziest room. I wasn't fond of big rooms. I liked this room. And I could see a much better room from across my window. It had a much bigger window and it was darker in there. I couldn't see anything. I kept my luggage and we got freshened up and decided to meet in half an hour. After everything was done, we were welcomed to the kitchen by freshly baked pancakes by none other than Jenny. She had learnt to cook and wanted to make something for us. We sat there, ate, talked, and had some best moments of our life. After a while, we set up our living room, half of the kitchen had already been set up by Jenny. We planned to set up our rooms a little later and do the common things first. Stacey and Julia got their rooms on the other side of the apartment. Their windows facing the other side. Jenny had gone back to her place and promised to meet us for dinner. Later that afternoon we slept and woke up by the sound of the bell. All three of us groaned and when we opened the door, we saw Jenny all dressed up ready to go somewhere. She had dinner parcel with her. I squinted my eyes to adjust to the light of the hallway. We had realised it was late evening and we had been sleeping since afternoon. Jenny, slightly annoyed, screamed,"What in the world are you girls doing?! It is a friday night, and also the last night before the school starts. We have a party to attend. Let's get done with our dinner and leave for the party. It's time to have fun, baby girls. I cannot believe y'all . Such boring people." There was a dramatic pause and all four of us laughed. Stacey and Julia helped Jenny set up plates and everything. I put the extra stuff on the table. We sat there ready for our dinner. Stacey asked Jenny,"You mentioned something about the party. Where is it exactly ? " Jenny, excitedly ,sat bolt upright ready to speak whereas I was busy serving our food. She got us Chinese food. My stomach was already growling. She said," It's a tradition here. High schoolers here are crazy and they party almost every weekend. Since our school is starting from Monday, we have a grand one this time. Y'all should not miss it. I can also introduce y'all to everyone else."
We all agreed to go to the party. We had our dinner and quickly went to change. Everyone went to Julia's room with their clothes to get ready. Jenny was already wearing a denim mini skirt and a halter neck top. She had paired it up with golden hoops and neck pieces and flats. She looked beautiful. Stacey chose to wear a floral dress with a basic neck piece. She wore boots .She looked cute. Julia wore leather shorts and sweater and paired it up with chunky sneakers. She was more of a tomboy. She looked cool. I wore a basic black satin strappy dress paired with heels and some jewellery. We all looked our best since we were meeting our new schoolmates. I put up basic make up because I wasn't much of a make up fan. We all clicked pictures. We headed to the party place in Jenny's car. There was loud music blaring out from the club. I already started feeling nervous for some reason. It felt like there was going to be so much more than just our high school stuff this year. Everyone else was excited. I couldn't see a familiar face. Jenny greeted some people and introduced us to them. We entered the club, it was specifically for our high schoolers. Some boys managed to get it for a night. That's what Jenny told us.
