"Who's that?"

Yoongi whispered loud enough to break the silence of the hallway, the anxious look on the lawyer Namjoon and Hoseok broke for a moment. Oh, cut the crap.

Yoongi was curious. He wanted to solve this mystery as soon as possible. He wanted to wrap this whole enigma of Jeon Jeongguk into something he can believe, something that was enough to satisfy Taehyung's thirst for the man. But it all got more tangled up, and no one was willing to help them. Yoongi couldn't help but wonder why fate was making everything a mess, nothing less nothing more, perfect chaos.

"She's Jeon Jooan. Jeongguk's daughter."

Hoseok was the one who answered, not really caring about the surprise that adorned the two male's faces. Well, Yoongi was fine, reserved, and nodded his head as he understood the words. So, what's the big deal? Jeon Jeongguk, who claimed to be in love with Kim Taehyung, has a four-year-old daughter and a very protective Doberman named Jeon Bam.

The Jeons.

Yoongi uttered in his head, slightly peeking at Taehyung who stood in the middle of the hallway as if the world stopped. Just by that one glance, Yoongi could tell that Taehyung was having a battle with himself. The pain, the misery, the guilt, the helplessness- Taehyung was doing a very terrible job of hiding his true emotions from Yoongi. And the lawyer regrets agreeing to help the younger man find details about Jeongguk.

He might be brave, but that doesn't mean Yoongi will torture himself for nothing by seeing Taehyung breaking down again and again. The realization was already chanting inside the lawyer when they walked past the bedroom of Jooan, with Taehyung's eyes stuck on the closed door, the tiny glint of hope was missing. Taehyung loves kids.

"She's still... "

"We understand... It's okay. We're just... You know..."

Namjoon's words were cut off by Yoongi but then again, the lawyer had to stop. He doesn't know if he should complete it or just leave it like that. The frustration of his questions being unanswered was evident on his face. And he knows. Namjoon wasn't any stupid. The other lawyer can simply read the look on Yoongi's face, so he decided to speak up.

"I'm sorry, we didn't tell you about Jooan. It's because we're scared. What if the culprit has an eye on Jeongguk from the start and it would be difficult for everyone if he reaches out to our Joonie? We did it to protect her."

Understandable. Yoongi thought. As they stopped in front of the door next to Jooan's, they all took a deep breath as if they were entering a forbidden kingdom. But for Taehyung, it felt like a dream. A fantasy he has always been addicted to but never knew it was this intense. Now that he stood in front of the wooden door, Taehyung couldn't help but imagine a world where it's all fascinating like a vintage portrait, where it's all intoxicating as jazz music, where it's all bliss like a sunset after a long run.

And when the door opened, Taehyung took a long whiff, steps hesitating to walk forward. He's sensitive to musky scents. He's allergic to the smell of an old library stack. He hates black. He hates the royalty that color furnishes. He hates when everything is perfect.

It would be a lie if Taehyung said that the room wasn't beautiful. But at the same time, it has an aesthetic that was enough for him to remind how he hates to be alone in the dark. The moment he entered inside, with Yoongi on his side, Namjoon and Hoseok behind, Taehyung felt he was being bewitched by the charms of the room. He was levitating. Without any reason, he was intimidated and delighted.

Taehyung could feel it through his every nerve that there's no way back. He's entangled in a maze he chose for himself. When Namjoon closed the door slightly, Taehyung realized. He should've listened to the small voice in his head telling him Jeon Jeongguk is a bad idea. Had only Taehyung listened to it, he wouldn't be struggling to breathe so hard now.
