Tommy left the nursery with one destination in mind.

Phil's room.

He needed to plan out and escape, because fuck it, he was killing Phil now.

Tommy knew it was well past dawn, and that Phil wouldn't be in his room right now.

At least he hoped.

Tommy stood in front of Phil's room, preparing for the worst.

He turned the doorknob, which wasn't locked.

Tommy internally snickered at Phil's stupidity, before entering the room.

And Woah.

It was five times bigger than his room.

And even though it's night, it was fucking bright in the room.

Mans got an entire skylight!

Tommy cringed at how excited he was seeing his father's room for the first time in 16 years.

Ooo wait but what was this?

Tommy stared at a cabinet full of little trinkets.

Maybe Tommy would take one to give back to Dream and-

"Thomas."

Tommy turned around, making direct eye contact with Phil.

The old king stood at the door, face unreadable.

Yikers.

Tommy plastered on a fake smile, and bowed.

"Emperor Phil."

Phil raised an eyebrow.

"To what do I owe pleasure of your company?"

That's grown-up talk for "What are you doing here?"

(any "my weirder school" enthusiasts get that reference? no? okay)

Anyways, then Tommy realized that he in fact was standing inside Phil's room, and that would be considered weird.

Think fast.

"I was hoping to talk to you then. I haven't seen you since our dinner we had five days ago."

Phil nodded stiffly.

"Very well. You may go on."

Ew, small talk.

"Why, your room looks lovely."

Phil smiled.

It looked so forced.

"Thank you, Thomas. It has not changed since you were... associated, with the castle."

Tommy couldn't help the venom in his voice.

"Ah yes, but you never once spoke to me, let alone allowed me into your room. It is the first time I've ever seen it."

Phil looked taken aback, like he wasn't expecting Tommy to still hold a grudge.

Bitch .

"Such a shame, is it not? But you were merely a child-"

"And forgive me for interrupting, but doesn't me being a child mean I should have deserved a better father?"
