It had been a week and she never even got a call.

(I'm sure I put the right number in.)

Some part of her wanted to forget it, being just a one time meeting with a stranger. She waited, after nearing the second week of silence she returned to the spot to find him again in person. She felt silly especially when he didn't show up to the mall the entire week.

She sighed, tired of watching the same scene for the fifth day.

(I guess he has more patience to last through this over and over.)

She got up and walked away from the bench. Making it a few feet down the hall she was stopped by two people.

'Could you tell us where this store is? We haven't been here before.'

He arrives to his usual place after having been busy with his painting for awhile, he had a new motivation and wanted to finish as much as he could as soon as possible. He took the advice of Alana and decided to stay home more often or visit other places in the area for a change to 'stop moping over you' as she said.

He takes his seat and expects nothing more than the usual kind of day. He hears the play area, the parents, and further away he hears~

'Y/n?'

He stands, hurrying toward her voice, cane frantically scanning over the floor. Her voice stopped and he only could guess where you would have gone but he could still try. His shoulder bumps someone else's and he stumbles quietly but he goes unnoticed, he tries to find you with less care in where he was walking. He began to lose where he was and didn't hear her anymore.

'Y/n?!' He called as he walked with pace. He said her name again hoping she would hear it. He must have been calling for so long but in reality it all happened in seconds, to him it was too much.

If he lost her now who knows when she would be back. And then it would be over. It was hard enough to determine where she was by the distant voice.

'Y/n' She turned to the sound and saw the ungraceful and dangerous rush of his pace. She went to him, calling back to him too.

Before he collided into her she grasped his arms to carefully stop him and he was jostled back a little before returning to a cool quiet composure.

'Y/n?' He asked again to make sure, his head straight forward and unmoving, his usual dark glasses on.

'Yes, but what's wrong? If you trip over something~'

'Nothing is wrong, I wanted to see you. We tried calling your number but it didn't work.' He wanted to address the issue right away.

'Oh. Well.. here. I can check my number again, I will even call myself.' She can hear the relief in his sigh as he gives her the phone from his pocket and she types the buttons before calling the number in his list. Her phone rings and she answers, placing his own phone to his ear and the sound of her voice coming through the device was calming. His hand came up and took it from her.

'Well good to know that is settled, do you have anything today?' He asked next, thinking she adjusted a mistaken number.

'I don't.' She had originally planned to find him or at least wander around on her free day so her time was clear.

'Ah. Then follow me, there is somewhere we should go.'

He took her outside the building and a short way down the sidewalk, he maneuvered carefully and she had to follow him. She was not used to seeing him go through crowds and she kept waiting for him to trip someone or to stuble across something in his path but he didn't.

She expected him to stop at the seats but he kept going, his shoes scaling across the grass. As soon as he felt shade hit him he laid on his back, folding his dark glasses on his chest, the grass blades bending under him.

(Uhm..)

He knew she was unsure what to do but he got comfortable and waited for her to join. Luckily he had never had the privilege to worry about how he looked to others so he didn't mind how unexpected his actions were.

'This is a beautiful place to hear.'

'Hear?' She sat down beside him.

'You can't possibly think the word beautiful is reserved for appearances right? Close your eyes, you'll find out.

*Birds*
*Kids Playing*
*Cars Honking*
*Dogs Barking*
*Wind Blowing*

She listened, his hand crept closer and it touched hers but neither moved away. His hand set atop hers and she was so focused on the sound she hardly felt the light touch of him.

Awhile after basking in the "peaceful noise" as he called it, he finally got the courage to tell her something he wanted to say since day one.

'Y/n. You are beautiful.'

'You haven't seen me.' She blinked at the blue sky.

'Remember what I told you.'

She rolled her head to face him and he laughed.

His hand above hers pressed her hand into the grass and the little blades tickled. Then his fingers meshed in between hers, making her feel the smoothness of his soft hand.

She could understand the mood well enough and went along with it. It was nice.

'The grass is so prickly, what about something softer?'

Now he was confused. She rolled on her side and touched his hair, plucking away at his strands that fell out of place only then to mess them up again with her fingers.

'Soft enough for you?' His eyes opened and stared blankly at the sky. She got a fair look at them. She noticed the corner of his eye was wetter than it should be, gaining moisture. She thought maybe his eyes were becoming dry and the wetness was to help.

'You know, I haven't felt this before.'

'Really.' She kept going, unaware of the emotion growing in him.

His eyes closed and a lonely drop fell down his face to the ground.

'People consider me.... undesirable. After all, what could I provide for someone else. I already need an aid.'

Her tears start to form much faster than his did and she sniffles. He appreciated the empathy.

'Don't pity me. I never expected anything more. My parents were sure to make that clear.'

'Were they not.... supportive?' Her voice got quiter.

'Would you think you could be a good parent after spending your kids lifetime taking care of them, getting them special teachers to communicate, buying every special tool they needed to just live??'

'That isn't how families are. Most parents would not mind.'

'Well. Mine did.' He sat up and put his glasses on.
