Trying to forget the person you love is pointless. There is no way you’d forget all the memories you shared and all the laughter he brought into your life… even if the last present he gave you was pain.

He’s all the same. He never actually changed. Three years was long enough for anyone to perhaps see something in oneself. Kris was her everything. There was nothing in the world they could not do, having both of their parents agree to their relationship. But he was a mindless jerk, she constantly reminded herself in the shadows.

Kris Wu. A name no one could easily forget. Handsome, tall, talented and was loved by the many girls. And she was one of them. Young and fragile was her heart when she fell for his charms. It had no idea of what was going to happen in the future.

And so it happened. I never really expected anything from my unrequited love. But he paid me back. I never asked him to, but why did he?

It was a Saturday. The older Jung went out to school for no particular reason. Boredom struck her that she decided to go to school, read a book under a tree and eat some snacks. Krystal was still asleep when she left even though it was past 8 in the morning. Her parents were nowhere to be found again.  And she doesn’t really care anymore.

As soon as she arrived, she went to her favourite reading place aside from the library. They made way for her to sit when they saw her approaching. The morning breeze left her a mark. It was as if she was in a farm but no, she was just under the shade of the tree and it made her feel comfortable, every once in a while.

Her soft fingertips touched the page of the Biology book she was holding. She read on, interested with everything written about Chromosomes. She was like that. Perfection, that’s what she strived for, but Jessica was someone who never really cared for people’s opinions. That was she. No change needed.

“Pass it to me! Pass it to me!”

Her ear rang. The voice was absolutely familiar. She left a bookmark on the page she was reading and tried to look who owned that. Where could that be? And she did find it. She blinked, as he smiled at her and ran back to the field with a soccer ball in his hands.

Wu Yi Fan. Popularly known as Kris Wu.

“How could he smile at me like that? It was as if he didn’t do anything wrong.” She opened the book once more and started to read the last sentence. Genetics is a complicated thought but a simple concept. She agreed to the statement and read on.

But she found herself reading the same sentence over and over again. She couldn’t get him off of her mind. And his voice made it all worse. He shouted as if he was in his house, playing soccer and everything.

“Hey Jessica!” The least expected person came to her, Lee Dong Hae. What could it possibly be this time? He smiled, showing his teeth at her. Gross. “What are you reading? You look rather troubled.” He towed down and saw Genetics as the unit lesson. He nodded and sat down opposite to where she was.

He noisily chewed his gum that she got annoyed. He did it on purpose, she knew he did. “Oh by the way, I came from the guidance office and guess what? They let me go! I promised never to do it again. Man was I foolish to write that down and let it travel through you. But anyway, it’s fine now so I won’t be planning any revenge procedure for you anymore.”

She continued to read, pretending as if he didn’t exist. He wanted to talk to her, not knowing why, just simply getting the feeling. “Hey, I heard about you and the new guy. Was that… Kris Wu? Oh yeah, that’s the name. I heard you two were so sweet. Good thing I wasn’t there yesterday. I could have cried. Well, that’s a bit exaggerated. But you-“
