He held her hands like he used to but the expression he wore was unexplainable. She knew there was something going on. But she didn't want to ask. From what she was seeing, it was not good and if there was something he would want to tell, she didn't want to hear it. She was too scared, and totally not ready.
"Jung Soo Jung,"
She looked at his worried face and immediately looked away when she felt the tension rising. She lets go of one of her hands, trying to point out to the sky, appreciating how pretty the clouds were that afternoon.
But he wanted to get to the point. In any way possible, he didn't want her to get hurt but he had to say that. His conscience was killing him every night.
"Jessica Jung, listen to me." He said it with authority and she got butterflies all over her. There was really something wrong. Or perhaps, bad news? She didn't know.
He faced her, holding both of her hands once again. Right through the eyes, he spoke of what the truth was.
"Sica, I never loved you."
She didn't know how to take those in. Maybe he was just playing with her. But it wasn't funny. And it had no humour at all, not even a bit.
"You can't be serious. Are you?" She forced to laugh, but seeing his face made it seem impossible to laugh. "Wu Yi Fan, why are you suddenly like this? Did I do anything to you? Answer me. Have I done something wrong that's why you're breaking up with me? Answer me!"
She beat her with all her might, gradually bursting into tears. He didn't try to stop her because he knew exactly what she felt. But he had to say that, being honest with her. Yes, he was being honest although he knew his mistakes.
"You're leaving for China, right? That's why you're saying you never loved me. Yi Fan! Answer me. Please!" He held her arms and looked at her straight. She had never been so hysterical her whole life. And he was too guilty for it.
"Jessica, I never did. It doesn't matter whether I must go to China or not. What I'm saying right now is the truth. I know it hurts you deeply but I swear, I never dug down my feelings for you."
"LIES! LIES!"
She wanted to run away from him, but he grabbed her from behind and tightly embraced her. She was crying, sobbing in fact. And he was silently shedding tears. He didn't want to leave her or tell her that he didn't have affection. Maybe at first he didn't lay an eye but in the end, he wanted to protect her.
"Let me go, Yi Fan! Let me go!" She struggled to get away, but he hugged her even more, trying to hide the tears falling. She repeatedly kissed her hair as she was screaming and tearing up. There was no escape in his arms and the hurt had stabbed her deeply. She wanted to pretend she didn't hear anything, that everything was alright and Kris was just joking.
"I'm sorry, Jessica. I'm so sorry."
But he left a wound. A wound that never turned into a scar.
"Dong Hae! Dong Hae! Please, wake up! Wake up!"
She tried to open his eyes, slapping him in the face but there was blood all over the floor, including her hands and uniform. His head was on her lap, and she cried seeing him unconscious. Quickly, she got her phone and asked for assistance from the clinic. But as soon as she waited, she called out for help.
"Dong Hae, hang in there, okay? They're coming to get you. Be strong. Please."
The teardrops fell to his face. And the only thing on her mind was hoping that he'd be okay, despite seeing him with what he was doing.
