The ride to Glaview was interesting at best. Vanessa started humming to herself as she either turned the music up or down to her liking. I can tell she was trying to hide her feelings through any distraction that grabbed her attention. The music was the distraction at the time. It was annoying at best but I couldn't blame her for trying.

I had so much going on in my mind at the moment. The love of my life is out to get me, I'm looking out for my own safety and I left my family to help people. Not much I can do but I want to be there. At least for the ones I care about.

"Does your friend live in Glaview? Vanessa asked, turning down the music. She gave me a few glances since she was focused on the road.

"Yeah she does. She shouldn't be far though." I pulled out my phone to try and distract myself from the conversation.

"Quick question, why couldn't your family drive you here?"

This is a question I couldn't answer. Why couldn't I get them involved? Should I have stayed with them instead of running off on my own? Are they even ok?

I started to play with my hands upon thinking about it. A bundle of guilt swarmed inside me and no amount of thoughts could change this feeling.

"You can drop me off here. I can walk." I stated, trying to avoid looking at her face. I could feel her eyes on me, the worry slipped from her towards my direction.

"Paige, I can't drop you off here. It's cold, in the middle of the highway and I'm not even sure if that guy who's after you is near." Vanessa reminded me, in a more stern tone.

"The next gas station. Please drop me off at the next gas station."

"Why? If I was crossing a boundary I'm sorry but I can't just leave you here alone."

"Why not? I just needed you to get me to my next destination-"

"Safely. Getting you there safely. No debate."

"Fuck safety, if I wanted that I would've stayed home." I stated. I grew aggravated from this. Vanessa worry grew from what I can tell by her facial expressions. I crossed my arms and stared at the window. The cars going by was enough white noise for me to get back into my thoughts.

"This trip better be worth it. I don't know the situation but you better get your ducks in a row soon." Vanessa sighed at the situation, "just don't forget to take care of yourself."

Take care of myself. That's something I can't do, especially right now. I looked back at Vanessa, her calm demeanor didn't hide how concerned she was. I don't blame her either. She has a heart of gold for someone she just met. For a runaway who could get her in trouble at some point.

We finally reached the nearest gas station. Vanessa parked and the both of us went inside. I assumed she wanted to get gas for he car. "Do you have money? To get something to eat."

"I have money but it's not enough to get a hotel or anything."

"Hotel? I thought you were going to your friends house?"

"I am, I don't know her address. I just know what her house looks like."

"You don't know her address? You dragged me here and you don't know her address?" Vanessa got stern with her voice.

I turned back around and headed inside the building with Vanessa following after. I went to the back to grab a couple monsters and a few bags of chips and headed to the counter. Vanessa waited behind me to pay for her gas.

I dragged her here? I didn't ask her to drop me off to my friend I just wanted to get here. Or did I? She sounds mad at me now, I might as well start walking at this point. After my stuff was bagged and I received my change I walked out the store. I put my things in my back pack and started walking.
