A wave of relief washed over me as Diamond walked through the door. I've never been so happy to see someone in my life before. I let out a sigh as the tension in my body slowly began to ease.

"Diamond" I breathed out, my voice barely a whisper, "Thank goodness it's you."

"What happened? And who's this?" diamond questions as she walks towards me and looks at my shoulder. I chuckled nervously as I attempted to avoid eye contact.

" I don't know how to explain it without giving you the entire story." how do I explain what happened? It doesn't even sound believable and attempting to put into words is going to make it sound worse.

The love of my life stabbed me and he chased me into the woods, but it's all right because a random man housed me and I ran into his ex-wife. How insane do you have to be to explain this and expect someone to believe you? Diamond's worried look increased as she looks at Veronica who also at the time doesn't know what happened either. Her worried and confused look worsened as I attempt to explain what happened. I can tell she was trying to make sense of the situation and figure out what was going on.

"I know it sounds crazy but it's true, I swear."

"I can't vouch for the first half, but I can for the second half." Diamond looked at me with less worry and more content.

"Girl I'm just glad you're ok. My mom is here with me, we can take you to my house so we can hang out." Diamond cheers and she links her arm with mine. I smile and I link my arm with hers in return.

"Oh Veronica. Thank you for everything. My friend is here now so you don't have to worry about me being lost."

"Well, I enjoyed the little time we had together. You have my number so feel free to text me." I smiled and nodded in response. The three of us walked to the waiting room where Diamond's mom was waiting for us. She walks up to me and hugs me tightly; I could tell she was worried about me. She wipes her tears away as she realizes that I'm ok.

"Oh, sweet pea, I'm so glad you're ok." Diamonds mom exclaimed, embracing me tightly. Her expression of relief was felt through her hugs. She looks at my shoulder as her expression changes to concern. "What happened to your shoulder?"

"It's a long story, I'll tell you later. Can we get out of here?" We finally depart from the hospital, Veronica waves bye with a smile on her face. I grin a little and did the same. I couldn't help but feel grateful for her help and support. But it came with a bittersweet pang of sadness as we drove away. For now, I pushed those feelings aside to focus on the present. We climbed into the car Diamond's mom came it and I felt a wave a relief as we pull out the parking lot.

Diamond sat in the back with me just so we could talk better. I smiled hard as we gave each other looks.

"So, who's Mason? And why did her hurt you?

She asked as she put my backpack on the ground. How do I even explain who he is? I'm not even sure how I feel about him. After all these years I was still in love with him. I figured I'd get over him since I haven't seen him since high school. Besides my emotions, how do I explain that I'm not sure why he's after me. I'm just as confused.

"We were friends in high school. I had, or have, a crush on him." I played with my hair as I tried to explain everything I know, "I don't know why he's doing this. I thought we were close."

Diamond listened intently as I tried to explain the situation with mason. I could see the confusion on her face as I spoke about our history and my feelings towards him

"Wait, hold up, you like him?" She asked not quite following. "Why would he be after you if you like him?"

I sigh about the situation. "It's complicated." I said, still playing with my hair. "I thought we were close too, but now I don't know what to think."
