Third Person's POV

Jungkook heard the telltale honk of a car outside his apartment, signalling that Hobi had already arrived. He tightly closed his eyes, groaning audibly as he continued to dread the events lined up for the night. He had tried his best to get out of the party, even going as far as telling Hobi that he was extremely sick but of course, his best friend did not buy his excuse and only shut him up with,

"Get ready by 3 pm"

He was slowly trudging down the stairs when Hobi honked twice and Jungkook knew that his best friend's patience with him was growing thinner by the second. The streets were congested with people as soon as he stepped out and his mood only turned even more sour than it already is. It was a Friday night, and normally he would have been happy to unwind after an exhausting week, but not tonight.

Jungkook stood next to Hobi's car, gently knocking on the passenger seat. The latter immediately rolled down the window. Jungkook hunched over to look at his best friend with pleading eyes.

"Is it too late to back out?" He asked for the nth time.

Hobi rolled his eyes.

"Just get in, Jungkook-ah. We're already late because you keep trying to ditch the party! Namjoon will grill my ass because of you"

The younger one sighed once more before finally opening the passenger door and sliding in the seat. He hadn't even fully finished putting on his seatbelt when Hobi stepped on the gas.

"Why are you in such a hurry!" Jungkook scolded as he clutched the seatbelt to his chest.

"As I said, we're already late" Hobi deadpanned.

"Look, I know you're avoiding Taehyung, but this is an important day for Namjoon and Jin" His best friend briefly glanced at him before looking back to the road.

"They really want you to be there"

"I'm not avoiding Taehyung!" Jungkook responded indignantly even though he himself was aware that there was already a lump on his throat at the mere mention of the name.

It had been years since that fateful day, and yet Jungkook wondered why it felt like he hadn't moved a single inch from where it all ended.

Hobi's chuckle brought him back to reality.

"Of all the things I said, the only thing that you registered was Taehyung?" The elder shook his head, still bubbling with laughter.

"Just go back to him, Kook"

Jungkook only shot his friend a dirty look before turning his head to face outside. He was aware that it was inevitable for him and Taehyung to meet again– he was even a little surprised that it actually took this long. After all, they belong in the same friend group.

Taehyung was able to avoid the first few gatherings that they had, not being in the same country as them helped but Taehyung couldn't miss it this time since it's his elder brother's wedding. On the other hand, Jungkook was especially close to Jin who had served as an elder brother to him. The man will definitely get mad if he doesn't make an appearance at all parts of the wedding.
