Akil Black

After hanging with Nature all day at school it was time to go home. As I approached my house I looked down the street and saw ambulances and police. I went and sat on my porch as I looked down the street intently and saw them carrying the a black body bag. I chuckled and walked into my house and put my bag down.

I went into my room and opened my sock drawer, I removed all of my socks and knocked on the wood looking for a hollow spot. Once I found it I opened the compartment and took twenty dollars from one of the bands.

I walked out of my house ignoring all of the commotion and I walked to the convenient store and got some chips and a candy bar. I payed for my stuff. When I was walking through the door and I bumped into someone and it was Nature. She looked well put up and not how she looked this morning, she looked like she didn't struggle at all.

I looked at her and she looked surprised to see me. "Care to explain?" I asked.

She rolled her eyes "Come walk with me."

"We going to the park." I told her. She nodded her head.

When we reached the park we sat on a bench.

"Okay go on."  I commanded.

"Okay I still don got it, but I got it enough to not look like trash- like I did this morning. I looked like that because today is my first day at that school and I was trying to spot real people. Ones who don't judge people by there appearance. While everyone called me raggedy, you were the only one who didn't."

"Okay and.."

"And what? You were the only one who didn't judge me."

"So those are your real eyes?" She laughed hard, which made me laugh a little too.

"Yes you act like you never seen a brown skin girl with blue eyes."

"I haven't. Anyways where you live?'

"Apple Wood Projects. You heard about that lady that was shot? I just moved there and someone already getting killed."

"Really?" I said not really interested.

"Your quiet and anyways I saw someone walking out that ladies house." Now that really sparked my interest but I didn't show it.

"Who." I asked.

"Um he had on a black hoodie, I couldn't really see his face."

"Oh" I said. I got up and I walked her home.
