As per the suggestion of Gandhar Raj Shakuni, Duryodhan participated in the battle against Chandrapuri, to make up for the loss in war against Drupad.
Under the command of Mahamahim Bhism, the victory was easily theirs. Chandrapur recurred a heavy loss, the loss of Maharaj Agnihotra, their brave King.
With respect Bhism sent his body back through Duryodhan. But the son of Dhritrashtra took another step further when he reached the palace.
While the wife of Agnihotra, Padmavati and her daughter Padmavija cried at the dead body of their husband and father, Duryodhan presented Agnihotra's younger brother, Yuvraj Agnimitra with a gift.
A gift of humiliation in form of a nose ring.
"Yuvraj, take my advice and wear this nath in front of your praja. They should know how incompetent Pushyakul is." Said Duryodhan with arrogance and stomped out.
