Emily had never seen Harry so gloomy. He entered the bedroom, where she was already laying, shuffling his feet against the floor.

"Zayn left the band", he said in an inconsolable tone. She swore he had never been so depressed in his whole life. Emily had already heard the news, they were of that kind that travels fast. She wanted to say she was sorry, but she remained silent. She knew Harry had profered those words not to start a conversation, but to grow aware that it had really happened. Zayn leaving the bad, Emily could not quite believe it, too. She knew that, of course, things were different now that some members of the band, like Harry and her, had married and things had twisted greatly when children had arrived in the band's life. It had happened to them, it had happened to Zayn too. Now the fans asked to take pictures with the lads' kids, instead of their dads alone. It goes without saying that Harry was very happy to share his princess with the fans that had grown up with them. They had all grown up, they weren't the carefree teenagers of the beginning of their careers but One Direction were still mainstream, they were still filling up stadiums. She couldn't believe it, nor could understand his decision. Even if things were different now, they had always backed up each other, they were still the five lads of the beginning for what concerned their friendship. Maybe it was in the air, considering all those times Zayn had negleted them, his minor depression...Emily fought to hold back the tears thinking of all those beautiful moments spent together. Imagines of her marriage, of when Zayn's twins were born,of to the journeys altogether with the others, of tours, of concerts, of ups and downs, everything flashed in front of her eyes. She knew all this wouldn't have happened without Zayn. He had been the one who had pushed her to run after Harry when it seemed it was all over, when her heart was bleeding so much she could have died without even noticing. She wouldn't be there, in the bed with the man she loved, if it wasn't for Zayn. If it wasn't for his words that day almost five years ago, her daughter wouldn't be sleeping in the room next to theirs now. Were things about to change now? Would Zayn step out from their life, too?

She caressed Harry's face, taking his hair off from his face. He didn't react but his eyes seemed to recognize hers. Somewhere deep inside them, a light sparkled. He sank into the bed, covering his face with his hands. It broke Emily's heart to see him in such pain, to see him so desperate, so lost.

"Why did he have to leave, Emily? Why did he had to leave? Wasn't the love he received enough? I just can't understand...didn't he feel appreciated?...why, Em..."

"I don't know, Harry" Emily admitted. Words couldn't lessen his pain, but she wanted to show him she was there for him. She caressed his chest, big and broad, but he didn't took his hands off his eyes. Emily opened the sheets to let him in, even if he had still the clothes he wore when he was at the studio. She wanted to press her body against his, to spoon him the way he liked and to make him feel all her everlasting love.

"Come in bed, Harry...just rest...will think about it tomorrow ok...?" she said, making space for him.

"Ok..." he sighed, getting inside the sheets and rolling on his side. He curled like a baby, his locks almost against his knees. She knew he was crying. She turned off the light and embraced him as strong as she could, pressing him against her body, the silence of the night all around them.

When Emily woke up, she felt like a hole in her heart. Harry was not beside her, but it wasn't the empty space in her bed to make her feel that sickly way. She had a strange feeling, like a premonition. Almost choking, she jumped out of the bed and rushed to her daughter's bedroom.

"Hi mom" the little girl said, waking up at the sound of her mother entering her bedroom. Emily looked at her in desperation, her face losing all the colour. She couldn't make that feeling go away...the well-known feeling of being alone. She hadn't feel like that since when she was with Harry...but now it was emerging in all its power, making tears spill out of her eyes.

"Mommy..." the little girl called her, giving her a worried look with her big green eyes.

"It's nothing love...it's nothing..." Emily tried to reassure her, caressing her soft locks and faking a smile. Then she saw it. Right next to the girl's bed, a piece of paper with Harry's handwriting on. She took it in her trembling hands, devouring it with her eyes.

'Dad will be leaving for a while. You are the most precious thing on hearth, little princess. Even if I won't be there, you'll be always with me because you are in my heart. I love you more than words can describe, I love you with every piece of my soul, but I'm not good enough for you. Mom will take good care of you. Work hard and be nice...I love you,I love you, I love you

your dad...'

It was a goodbye letter. Emily read it again adding her tears to the ones Harry had already left on the page. She couldn't believe Harry was leaving her...was leaving them! She collapsed on the girl's bed, shaking in all her body. The little girl stood up and hurried to hug her mom, as if she knew what was going on. The contact with her little, soft body made Emily come back to reality. He was trying to leave them, but she wouldn't let him do it. She had fought once for his love, she was ready to do it again. She wouldn't let him cut her off his world again; whatever problem he was facing he didn't have to be alone. She embraced her daughter tightly, pushing her head against her chest. She caressed her peach smelling hair more and more, almost automatically. She wouldn't let Harry leave them...

Around noon, the phone rang. Emily had spent the day on her side of her bed, staring at the vacuum, listening to the noises of her little girl playing in her room. She was determined not to let Harry go but she didn't know how. For what she knew, he could be anywhere. She really needed a plan - or a miracle from above. As the phone kept ringing, she answered it.

"Listen to me, curly, get out from that house and bring your ass to the studio. I know you like playing with your little girl...I like spending time with my boy, too, but there's work to do...you wanna earn money to dress Darcy like a princess, don't you??"

"Hi Liam...it's me, Emily..."

"Sorry, Emily, I thought it was that asshole of your husband...didn't you to go work today? Are you okay?"

"Liam...Harry left..." Emily burst out in tears.
