It was night  when they came back to the boat. They hopped on as buglers, and Emily started the engine before Louis could even turn the lights on. It was the only boat moving out of the port, leaving a white foamy wake shining under the moon. It was a bright and clear night and there was no other sound except the cluttering of the boat. When they were far enough, Emily inserted the automatic pilot.

"Good...we'll be driving in this way all the night. The coordinates are right" she said checking on the map, while Louis rolled his eyes.

"Good, yes, we should be there by tomorrow morning if the wind keeps blowing like this, as I expect" she added with an expert tone. Louis was so annoyed that entered the cabin without being invited, leaving her alone.

"Okay Louis, let's settle for the night" she said turning to find that Louis was already inside. She shrugged and walked into the room, too. But as soon as she had stepped in, she had to stop. Everything was exactly as the first time she had been there with Harry, maybe a bit worn out and dusty. She shivered as the memories overwhelmed her. She quickly swept away the tears that were starting to flow out of her eyes and then she turned to Louis faking a smile.

"If you don't mind, you can't sleep here" she said pointing the couch. As soon as she cast her eyes on the old piece of furniture, she gawked at it while her mind ran again to Harry. She missed him so much it hurt, it almost took her breath away. There he had slept, at that table they had had their first breakfast together, in that room they had exchanged their first words. It was all so surreal: the cabin was the same, the things inside were the same of many years ago...her feelings were the same...it was like being back to the past, but Harry wasn't there. Her heart was about to explode. Why had he to leave like that? Why cutting her out? Hadn't she always be supportive? Hadn't she always shown him how much she loved him?...or maybe he didn't love her anymore?

"Yeah, the couch would be fine" Louis said, wandering around  the room. He served himself a glass of water, investigating every corner. She nodded absentminded, pale in face. However she knew that wasn't the moment to be weak: if she really wanted answers, she had to find Harry and make him talk.

"Let's...let's store the food in the fridge" Emily said, without minding Louis and placing the shopping bags on the table.

"Wait" Louis halted her as she was taking a bunch of bananas out of the only yellow shopper out the white ones.

"You made me stop to another supermarket because you had to buy bananas?!" Louis squealed. Emily blushed.

"Harry likes them so much and they ran out of it in the first supermarket so..." Louis was amazed and kept staring at her. Emily understood his puzzlement : he didn't know that since her engagement she had been carrying a banana in her bag just in case. Harry was the living proof we descend from monkeys.  But slowly she realized that what was going on Louis' mind was more than perplexity : he looked irritated, almost furious. With an indignant look on his face he dashed out the cabin, banging the door behind him. Emily followed him.

"You hate me, right?" Emily shouted at him. Emotions took control of her: she was just tired, physically and mentally, and the last thing she needed in that moment was a mad man full of inexplicable hate. The boat kept going fast among the gentle waves. The starry sky was all over them.

"And Mrs Perfection finds it out only now? The tears at seeing the couch where you first fucked...and the bananas? Oh God, how pathetic!"

"I just try to take care of him..."

"Isn't he an adult?"

"I...I just love him..." Emily said, as tears started rolling on her cheek. Louis flattered his eyes.
