'Get over here,' a voice hissed into her ear, and she jolted awake. Who was that? And, most importantly, where was she? It felt so dark and cold in this place, and she didn't like it. She missed her chambers. She was scared.
A hand groped her arm, and she almost let out a scream, except the person muffled her mouth. What was happening? Light, airy coldness whipped her skin, and it had nothing to do with the weather. Suddenly, brightness filled the room. She blinked. The light pierced her eyes, and she looked around curiously. This place looked like a modern cellar, where all of the food would have gone. Except all the cupboards seemed to be... empty. How strange. Where was that voice... or person she was talking to?
"Come." a flicker of something crossed her face. Incredulous. She was in the middle of her job... how did she end up here? Something seized her by the arm, dragging her once again into darkness. "I know your secret." it hissed into her ear. She shuddered, jerking away from the source of the sound. "You little liar. You think you're not different from them. Well, you are. And I will find out why you even came here in the first place."
The girl was scared. "M-my job was i-interrupted... by..."
"Excuse me??" a sneering voice washed over her. "I'm doing you a favor here. Stop hiding from the truth. You are nothing. And you will always be. "
A prickle of hot rage trickled through her body, like a shudder. "I'm not scared of you. Not at all! You've interrupted my job. I was supposed to serve her Highness her breakfast!" she was not going to be the scared, pathetic little girl she was before. "Why did you bring me here?" she demanded angrily.
Dry chuckling rang in her ears. "It's time you find out the truth. You're different."
The last thing she saw was a syringe flash and enter her arm.
