Chapter three

The breeze hit you as you leave your house, basket in hand. You hum a soft and sweet tune as you step through the grass, dressed in a silky black kimono.

You had refused to wear white after the events of last night.

Just as you had predicted, you never heard the end of it from your mother. You had to assist her in baking all night and all morning but now you had a basket with apple turnovers you would get to enjoy so its a win.

You endure the ten minute walk to up the hill covered in beautiful spring flowers. The pollen had tickled your nose and made you sneeze a few times but the view was worth it.

You smile to see the pretty, clear water koi fish pond that reside under a cherry blossom tree. Your smile deepens at the sight of a familiar robed man that sat beside the koi pond.

It seems he had taken your advice and just as you predicted, he'd be here. It was a 50/50 shot and you would still have enjoyed your time at the pond without the familiar stranger but your were glad you got the 50 that meant him being here.

You pick up the pace, taking a gentle seat beside the tattooed man. His brows had furrowed and his eyes closed at your presence, clearly unhappy.

"Hello again" You greet, setting your basket on your left side so that it would be between the two of you. He didn't take his eyes off the pond, again refusing to acknowledge your presence.

"I see you took my advice, is it working for you so far?"

"No." He plainly stated.

"And why is that?" You were glad he decided to speak to you.

"Because your presence is stressful. You being here takes away the purpose of my being here." He sets his head onto his hand. You open your basket and grab an apple turnover, offering him the sweet pastry.

"Take this as my apology. I just so happen to have enough for two. I'd never be able to finish these alone so I insist on you taking some for yourself" You kindly smile as he raises a brow at you.

After a few seconds of debating with himself, he takes the apple pastry from your hand and eats half of it in one bite.

"It's disgusting" He lied. He wouldn't want to give you the satisfaction.

You knew he was lying. You've always had good intuition and it helped a lot in social interactions with people like him.

"Im glad you like it" You take a bite from your own turnover you had grabbed for yourself.
"The koi fish are pretty aren't they?" You ask but you knew you weren't going to get a decent response in return.

"Tch. What they are are helpless and weak. They have no means of defense." He sticks his hand into the pond, grabbing one of the beautiful fish. He holds it up with a bored expression. "They're like you. I could kill this thing right now but it'd give me no real satisfaction. Too weak and frail for any real enjoyment" He tossed the flopping fish back into the pond.

"I see" Was all you could say.

"Now can you be on your way, princess? I enjoy my time alone." You frown in disappointment at his request, not wanting to leave.
